Yesterday the almost-hurricane Irene struck. At night. More in the very early morning. We didn't have power for most of today.

So I turn on my computer today, when we finally have both power and an Internet connection, and the fucking screen is black. Everything else seems to run normally. At first there wasn't any noise. Then when I turned it off and on, there was noise like it was booting up, but still it was black. Now I think it may be worse, because the wireless switch thing that turns from red to blue and the audio button thing that does the same thing are no longer turning blue. They're staying red.

Looked it up on other people's computers. Am lucky that my sister is reliving childhood through a Pokemon game. No idea what the problem is. Could be the computer, some cables, the screen, or everything. It could even be that rain got into it- some of it was coming in. Though that's happened before without giving me a black screen. Tried disconnecting it and holding the power button for 30-60 seconds, pressing the F5+F10 buttons, Did not help.

A likely power surge applies if it was plugged in at the time of the outage, especially if it was turned on or charging. As long as it's working again, backing up your hard drive, reformatting, and crossing your fingers that there won't be any more hardware issues is probably the best you can do.

You're welcome. What are random fellow fandom members for? :)
