Cinderella Phenomenon (Visual Novel)
Lucette Riella Britton/Fritzgerald Aiden Leverton (Cinderella Phenomenon)
I adore these two. I love that he’s one of the very few Lucette has any trust in, even at her most isolated, and that he falls in love with her before she ever starts to change and recover from the pain this isolation inflicted on her. Any quiet or stolen moment from that time would be lovely, but I’d also love to seem together after everything. Fandisk spoilers are okay, though I haven’t played it yet (having only just realized it existed)!
Road to Empress
Wu Yuanzhao/Xi Xin (Road to Empress)
So one of the Steam trailers led me to believe that this would be a route! ;-; And I still want it. Very much enjoyed Xi Xin’s loyalty to Yuanzhao, and would like to see them leaving together at the end of the game, as Xi Xin suggested! Or perhaps stolen moments before the emperor’s death, since Xi Xin couldn’t openly serve her. Chaste but romantic, or maybe not so chaste…Or them being together while trying survive either the Li Tai or the Li Zhi routes after the end of part one of the game!
Li Tai/Wu Yuanzhao (Road to Empress)
Love the push and pull between Li Tai letting Wu Yuanzhao fend for herself—because he values her being clever and calculating enough to do so—and taking real risks to help her, to the point of losing the emperor’s favor. (Hugely ironic, considering the circumstances in which he drew her into his plotting.) His fantasy about her thanking him was so sweet! I played her as somewhat conflicted, being drawn to both brothers but mostly trying to survive; however, I’m happy to read a take in which she’s more decided for Li Tai, or just focused on using him to get through, since she’s sure he cares! Also, that happy ending where she’s established far away from the palace, and sometimes he comes to watch her from afar…what if he got closer?
Li Zhi/Wu Yuanzhao (Road to Empress)
Love how sweet they can be—the paradise extra with him and Gaoyang is one of the loveliest moments in the story, and it’s really nice that he asked if she wanted to leave and actually followed through with helping her do so. I enjoy that balance between his genuine desire to help her and his plotting; the way he arranged for Gaoyang to meet her, and then for Li Tai to be the one actually taking the risk of saving her. I play Wu Yuanzhao as mostly focused on surviving, but genuinely drawn to the two brothers; I’m happy to read a take in which she’s genuinely invested in Li Zhi, or just using him to get through, since she knows he cares. Also, what if he’s able to actually keep her around somehow after the emperor’s death, or at least get her back sooner, instead of it taking two years?
Changeling (Visual Novel)
Ewan Croft/Nora Lewis (Changeling)
Ah, these two. Love the aesthetic and love how well they go together. There’s such empathy between them, but also humor, banter and fights. And sometimes they’re awkward, but other times just really romantic; the dialogue in their romance epilogue makes me smile a lot. Would love to see their further adventures trying to live as human, maybe encountering other situations with Cryptics, or Ewan rehearsing a bit of a play by performing for Nora. The fairy lore was a really fun aspect of this route, so more of that + worldbuilding would be encouraged!
Magical Diary (Visual Novels)
Female Main Character/Corrinna Lee (Magical Diary)
For “Female Main Character,” you can interpret that as Wolf Hall’s MC being female (and in another hall), or as the original Horse Hall protagonist! I’d love to see Corrinna take the MC up on the offer to be their guest at their homeland, and what the rest of MC’s schooling and preparations would be like back there. But I’d also love to see her falling for a wildseed girl who started a book club as part of her journey in settling in, herself choosing between two sides of her, magic or no magic. (If you’d like to know, the MC I played is dark-skinned and white-haired, last name Veracruz; feel free to imagine your own creation though! )
