The awkward, angsty mess of gaining an unexpected friend and starting to be into her boyfriend/finding the perfect partner and starting to be into her friend. Pining! Which is a great segue into...Bridgerton AU. I would also love any post-movie encounters, what with Fiyero riding off as soon as he learns something happened and Elphaba going off into the west (the direction of his home.)
Madame Morrible/Elphaba Thropp (Wicked Movie)
Elphaba needs the affection; Morrible is happy to provide for her new student, as long as she makes good. They’re invested in each other for totally different reasons. I like how touchy Morrible seems to be, and that Elphaba is so open to it. It's the first real (to her) relationship that she has outside of Nanny Dulcibear and the dynamic with Nessarose, and the first instance of someone valuing her difference.
Elphaba Thropp/Fiyero Tigelaar/Galinda Upland (Wicked Movie)
Galinda invites Elphaba to watch Fiyero go down on her, to educate her protégé and bring her new experiences. Fiyero is intrigued; Elphaba is overwhelmed but goes through with it. Also, I keep thinking of how Elphaba wants Glinda's boyfriend, but invites Glinda to run off with her, and how Glinda has the urge to take that invitation, but doesn't, and then her boyfriend runs off after Elphaba instead. :D
Black Magician Trilogy - Trudi Canavan
Akkarin/Sonea (Black Magician Trilogy)
This trilogy has a sequel trilogy and a standalone prequel. You can use material from the other books, or not, as you wish; I’d be happy with your work either way!
Happy moments, canon-compliant (stolen moments amid all the suffering) or AU! The black magic thing doesn’t get discovered for a while, so she and Akkarin develop a relationship there eventually. (Secretly? Before or after her graduation? You decide.) Cuddles! I loved when they snuggled. And the wake up kiss that one time! Sleeping, or gazing at each other.
Crossover Fandom
Prue Halliwell (Charmed)/Elphaba Thropp (Wicked Movie)
I love some powerful witches with a powerful sense of responsibility, whose sisters weigh heavily on them. They'd get each other's sense of duty and compassion, and I think they could have fun together. Does Prue get sent into Oz after her death, or on some mission requiring her to cross Elphaba's path? Or perhaps Elphaba gets sent to Prue instead.
Michael Burnham (Star Trek) & Ahsoka Tano (Star Wars), Spock (Star Trek TOS) & Ahsoka Tano (Star Wars)
I just love these characters and think they vibe well! Jedi and Vulcan/Vulcan-raised people, people who love the cultures that form their heritage and family while having struggled with what they mean to them. I also just think they’d be fun! Meditating together perhaps, or learning about the other’s culture. Or maybe a fusion? Where Spock or Michael are Jedi, or Ahsoka is Starfleet.
Buffyverse (TV)
Buffy Summers/Maggie Walsh
Mutual fascination, twisted mentorship, Buffy wanting to please/impress Maggie. I love Buffy’s admiration of her and Maggie’s ambivalence over Buffy's independence. They genuinely like each other, but come from different work environments (to say the least), to say nothing of the age gap and the...morals gap. What if there was more time between Maggie learning Buffy's identity and her becoming too much of a threat? Or if they played cat-and-mouse longer, not knowing each other, while spending more time together as civilians?
The Wheel of Time (TV)
Nynaeve al'Meara/Liandrin Guirale (WoT TV)
This is so interesting: Nynaeve knew she was a snake and still came to trust Liandrin--partly out of seeing Liandrin's love for her son , for whom she went to the dark. Liandrin manipulated her, but seems sincere about detesting Seanchan slavery, and released the girls. What if Lanfear had taken Liandrin from Ishamael earlier; would there be a different plan for Nynaeve and Egwene? Or how do future interactions turn out, with this history between them?
