This arc these two have resonates with the Snow Queen story for me: two friends separated when one's heart is frozen and the other trying to find the him despite the hardships and dangers. I'd love to see something that leans into that for inspiration, however you choose to do it. I also like "Tam Lin" and "East of the Sun and West of the Moon" for them because they have that quest/struggle to find and keep a loved one; and, in the case of Tam Lin, the image of Janet holding on to Tam no matter what his form evokes Ahsoka's later choice to stay with Anakin when he was Vader.

I kind of think of the Republic and the Jedi Order as a bit of a Camelot, shining but with flaws that would lead to its tragic ruin, and it would be interesting to see a story leaning into that with Jedi Knights!

I definitely thought of the Snow Queen story after watching their relationship play out--to be precise I first thought of Frozen, given how the separation comes about due to the eldest sibling's anxiety and protectiveness, but then it extended to the original story--and it would be so cool to see a story with them which draws from it!

Would love the story of their estrangement to draw on the Swan Princess film; who is the swan and who is the one to unknowingly hunt them?
Myth - Double-Being Soulmates (Greek)
The double-being soulmates story is so vivid and moving, and it could be cool to draw from it for a story about these two, who in addition to having their broken-then-mended relationship, know what it's like to have a duality inside them that they struggle to balance.

Janet holding onto Tam no matter what his form makes me think of both Michael holding onto Spock throughout season two and Spock's "You never lost me," and his wanting to follow her into the unknown future. I would love to see a Tam Lin-inspired story with these two!

Setting out to win the hand of someone from another world, and then in the end both worlds come together! I feel like these things, along with the longing Lirazel had for both home and her human family, and the way the humans in turn had a desire to be closer to Elfland, could come together interestingly for these characters.

Unicorns mean purity, which is such a loaded concept and, in legend, associated with virginity. But in modern times, there's that Last Unicorn story from Peter Beagle in which one of the main characters, Molly, is in pain at finally seeing a unicorn when she's an older, experienced woman, and out of love follows her anyway. With the show's themes involving the pain of life and of seeing yourself as someone who can live it, really live it, and Vic's struggles to get out of a cycle of trauma and with seeing herself as hopeless versus trying again, it would be really interesting to bring unicorns into a story about her!

I really like what I see as a fusion of Peter Pan and Bluebeard/Blue-beard-like influence on the show, and having felt drawn to Bluebeard/Bluebeard-like stories and gothic romance with the dark past and the fear/tension around the idea of some dude wanting to marry you, I would be interested in something that leaned into/drew from these stories more.
Fairy Tale - The Snow Queen
I feel like there are things reminiscent of the Snow Queen in the story already--both Wayne being taken away by a winter-associated figure and going through changes as a result while Vic searches for him, and the way that story parallels how Vic, in how she's changed after her own experience with that same figure, has changed and needs her people (Wayne and his situation specifically, but also in general) to call her back to living again. It would be cool to see something leaning into the fairytale for Vic and Wayne, or Vic and someone else.
Legend - Merlin and Nimue
Merlin's downfall coming due to his fascination with someone he taught, Nimue learning his magic after learning to entrap him; Vic taking down the man determined to hurt her by applying what she'd learned from him to her own abilities. She already thought using them as much as she had made her broken, and she ends her story choosing to set that part of her aside. It would be fun to see her relationship with her powers explored through this story.

I love a descent into the underworld. They both descend into places of death, literal and figurative, as they are tasked with facing and fighting death, die to themselves--physically for Buffy, and in the sense of having to lose a sense who they are for the both of them--before rising up and doing the work of re-connecting with themselves, with the support of others.
In that spirit, it could also be fun to see them involved in an adventure with a swan that floats through the realm of the dead! Or to bring in the phoenix; there's another creature associated with death, and that is reborn.
Myth - Ariadne and the Labyrinth
Girls navigating, and helping each other navigate, labyrinths! In the story, youths are sacrificed to the minotaur at the center; in these girls' stories, they carry the weight of sacrificing themselves, carrying the responsibility to make things better, or at least keep things from getting worse, for others.

The Lute Player has a heroine rescuing her love with music! And Mermaid of Zennor has one charming hers away with same, with them being drawn together through their musical skills. I feel like those would be lovely for this ship.

I definitely thought of the Snow Queen story after watching their relationship play out--to be precise I first thought of Frozen, given how the separation comes about due to the eldest sibling's anxiety and protectiveness, but then it extended to the original story--and it would be so cool to see a story with them which draws from it!

Would love the story of their estrangement to draw on the Swan Princess film; who is the swan and who is the one to unknowingly hunt them?
Myth - Double-Being Soulmates (Greek)
The double-being soulmates story is so vivid and moving, and it could be cool to draw from it for a story about these two, who in addition to having their broken-then-mended relationship, know what it's like to have a duality inside them that they struggle to balance.
Fairy Tale - Tam Lin
Janet holding onto Tam no matter what his form makes me think of both Michael holding onto Spock throughout season two and Spock's "You never lost me," and his wanting to follow her into the unknown future. I would love to see a Tam Lin-inspired story with these two!

Setting out to win the hand of someone from another world, and then in the end both worlds come together! I feel like these things, along with the longing Lirazel had for both home and her human family, and the way the humans in turn had a desire to be closer to Elfland, could come together interestingly for these characters.

Unicorns mean purity, which is such a loaded concept and, in legend, associated with virginity. But in modern times, there's that Last Unicorn story from Peter Beagle in which one of the main characters, Molly, is in pain at finally seeing a unicorn when she's an older, experienced woman, and out of love follows her anyway. With the show's themes involving the pain of life and of seeing yourself as someone who can live it, really live it, and Vic's struggles to get out of a cycle of trauma and with seeing herself as hopeless versus trying again, it would be really interesting to bring unicorns into a story about her!

I really like what I see as a fusion of Peter Pan and Bluebeard/Blue-beard-like influence on the show, and having felt drawn to Bluebeard/Bluebeard-like stories and gothic romance with the dark past and the fear/tension around the idea of some dude wanting to marry you, I would be interested in something that leaned into/drew from these stories more.
Fairy Tale - The Snow Queen
I feel like there are things reminiscent of the Snow Queen in the story already--both Wayne being taken away by a winter-associated figure and going through changes as a result while Vic searches for him, and the way that story parallels how Vic, in how she's changed after her own experience with that same figure, has changed and needs her people (Wayne and his situation specifically, but also in general) to call her back to living again. It would be cool to see something leaning into the fairytale for Vic and Wayne, or Vic and someone else.
Legend - Merlin and Nimue
Merlin's downfall coming due to his fascination with someone he taught, Nimue learning his magic after learning to entrap him; Vic taking down the man determined to hurt her by applying what she'd learned from him to her own abilities. She already thought using them as much as she had made her broken, and she ends her story choosing to set that part of her aside. It would be fun to see her relationship with her powers explored through this story.

These girls so wanted to have nice lives that fit in with a nice world, to have more than what they are being taught to expect, and fought for it, and struggle to really believe they can have it; unicorns, with their associations with purity and innocence and the things these young women fear they have lost or could never had, would be interesting to incorporate into their story.

I love a descent into the underworld. They both descend into places of death, literal and figurative, as they are tasked with facing and fighting death, die to themselves--physically for Buffy, and in the sense of having to lose a sense who they are for the both of them--before rising up and doing the work of re-connecting with themselves, with the support of others.
In that spirit, it could also be fun to see them involved in an adventure with a swan that floats through the realm of the dead! Or to bring in the phoenix; there's another creature associated with death, and that is reborn.
Myth - Ariadne and the Labyrinth
Girls navigating, and helping each other navigate, labyrinths! In the story, youths are sacrificed to the minotaur at the center; in these girls' stories, they carry the weight of sacrificing themselves, carrying the responsibility to make things better, or at least keep things from getting worse, for others.
