I use Windows 7 and Apple mobile devices. Most of my experience is with choice games--for example, like Alabaster, The Book of Guenevere, Affairs of the Court, visual novels like Oxenfree and Cinders, dating sims like Long Live the Queen and Magical Diary , and paper books where you turn to a page for every choice--but I’d be delighted with a parser game too. Puzzles, mazes, and timers aren’t a strength of mine, so I would enjoy a walkthrough if those are present.
DNWs:
- bleak/hopeless endings, permanently dead female characters (where she’s not even a ghost)
- mpreg
- detailed gore, detailed description of bodily fluids and excretions, watersports, scat, emetophilia

I love her and would very much like bad things to happen to her, and also good things. She tries so damn hard to keep herself together and her life going somewhere she wants while enduring all the crap from her family, the social stresses of class, and then this dude rolling in to be a child predator in her neighborhood. She had to set her best friend on fire to kill him that one time! Her efforts to take control of her life after, combined with the way she was always keeping herself under control before, and the accumulated trauma she’s had to deal with, lead to her self-isolating and drinking to cope, hurting the people she loves and thus driving her to dig herself in deeper. Until her worst fears come true and she has to reach back to her loved ones while having everything she hates about herself thrown in her face by that, all the while thinking it’s a done deal that she has to die and her life can’t amount to more than that, until she doesn’t die and tries to start over better. She’s a good person and she’s still messed-up. She’s a badass who carries so much inside; she got used to doing that as a child, I think, while always looking to get out when she could get into college, only to feel when she got the chance that she couldn’t go, and have that habit of keeping everything in work against her as she settles in to deal with her pain indefinitely all by herself, even though by then she had a support network in Maggie and Lou that she could have relied on. I love her face.
I can see bit of Elsa from Frozen to her in the second season, in the anxiety, withdrawing, guilt, and self-blame, with all these people who want to reach her; and thinking along those lines, there's also a bit of the original Snow Queen fairytale in her and Wayne, with the quest to restore a loved one who has been carried away and transformed by a being of ice and snow. If you want to put that Snow Queen motif in while creating for this fandom, I'd be interested to see however you felt inspired to do that!
I’d love something about the years in between seasons, with her enjoying parts of her life, like the Fourth of July with Wayne and Lou, while still being haunted, the shadows of what happened to her in the back of her mind.
Or something with her trying to put herself and her family back together after the events of the series. Coping with her father’s death, and the relationship as a whole. Rebuilding her relationship with her mother. Sharing the scary things with Wayne so they can keep finding each other through the mess, opening herself up to Lou and accepting his support in turn.
Does Wayne tell her about Millie at some point, or does she find out through Millie showing up at Haverhill? What if she had found Millie and broken her ornament? How does that work? I found it interesting that though they have no real pull on each other as people, they played key parts in each other’s fates through what little interaction they have. Just by Millie deciding to reach out and let someone into the little world her father isolated her in, and Vic delivering on her promise to get her out in a way, by blowing that world up and killing her father. The first and last girls to ride into Christmasland, to have been promised its goodness by Charlie and end up with completely different experiences of it and Charlie both. And of course, the connection through Wayne, who Millie had no interest in at all until he was the last thing she had left of Christmasland. There’s potential for complicated stuff there. Also, if you’re interested, I would be into an adult Millie shipped with Vic later on down the road, just for that weirdness. (In such a case I’d rather you not kill Lou or have them part on bad terms, because I really am fond of him and them.)
The continuing adventures: we see Maggie deciding to plunge further into the worlds Creatives can make, now that she has more control over how her own abilities impact her life. Vic needs a break to ground herself and find herself again, but she could totally get pulled in if Maggie needs help, or maybe just be a listening ear so that Maggie’s not completely alone in her exploration, and gradually become willing to reconnect to that magical side of herself instead of associating it only with trauma. Maybe one day they go on adventures together.
I’d love something about her reconnecting with her powers, and also exploring them. Between the backstories we see and the way they come with a price, it seems like being a Creative is tied to pain and loss, and this is part of why she doesn’t want to try to go deeper into that at the end, but maybe she can find a way to reapproach them in a different context? I’d love to see her dealing with them, and possibly learning more about/expanding them. We see other Creatives not being tied to an immediate, obvious use of their powers--Maggie can use her tiles to discover information, but she can also use it to go to other worlds by the end, and Charlie’s powers involve not just creating a place he can bring people to, but seeing into people’s minds when it comes to their childhoods and stealing souls with a car that’s an extension of himself--what would that look like for Vic? What skills might she develop, and what sort of actions could she take, if she developed her talent and her understanding of it?
Ghosts! I am satisfied with the appearances the show had, but would be happy to see more. Maybe Craig could appear to Vic (with or without Wayne as well), or she could see her father. I would like to see her meet Cassie too; I like the running theme of the women Charlie went after (Cassie, Millie, and Jolene, in one way or another) helping Vic work against his designs--or just working against his designs, in the case of Cassie. How does this ghost thing work exactly? We see two ghosts, who died in the back of the car, but in the case of Craig he can’t seem to leave it, while for Cassie it’s the house. It seems like part of it is that the house is the back of Charlie’s mind, which he isn’t even aware of (being as out of touch with reality and self-knowledge as he is); so did he move her there because he doesn’t want to think about her, while Craig stayed in the car because Charlie didn’t care about him? Given that he couldn’t see Craig either, would Vic be able to see Cassie?
I’d also be interested in a story with Charlie in it somehow, though preferably not in a way that actually brings him back to life after the series--except if he’s become fully human again, perhaps, unable to use his ability the way Vic was without her Knife for a while. At any age, young or old. I thought he was a good foil for her as a person and as a parent, seeming smooth and believing he has himself together while being a complete fuckup who cannot function in the world and has to prey on children to survive, and the way he embodied the darkness she feared was now in herself in a way she couldn’t remove, the rage he inspired in her, was so interesting. Also, the way his one-sided attraction led them to mutual hatred as he couldn’t just let her be and she couldn’t put him behind her was compelling. I like how they become each other's personal hell over the course of the show. The sheer hatred sparking, the intimacy of the eye contact when Vic first kills him, that the second time she kills him it’s in her mindscape with what she learned from him. (The part where he goes out of his way to kill her father while looking her directly in the eye is another one of those moments that's less fun to watch, but very effective and adds to their energy.) The parallels in the second season as they are so turned upside down by the impact they had on each other's lives that their children suffer from it, and the contrasts as Vic is in touch with that reality and grows while Charlie isn't and only becomes more mired in self-destructive behaviors. If taking that in a shippy direction interests you, I find it a good hate ship; I would prefer Vic not be attracted or in love, but struggling with the place he has in her mind, while he’s his manipulative, obsessed, fucked-up self--or maybe he gets forced into some self-awareness, possibly having to live in the real world with human limitations again; how would that affect their dynamic? Would it become less destructive, or stay destructive but end in a less zero-sum way where they can both stay alive? Either would make me happy; I love that Vic gets to kill him twice in canon. If you want to go from before they met, maybe her dreams of him, or her state of mind as she depicts him in her art.
Time travel prompts: With the way Vic and the characters in general are shown to be stuck with pain, bad patterns, and the generational trauma passed down from parent to child being a thing, it would be really interesting to apply time travel to this canon! Put Vic in a time loop, Russian Doll style with someone, or alone Happy Death Day-style, or Groundhog Day-style. Or do a Peggy Sue thing. Or Continuum-style time travel. Or mess with alternate dimensions, what-ifs with alternate selves.
Fusions with/worldbuilding from Silent Hill (the 2006 movie) or Stephen King’s It would also be welcome!
Holiday prompts: The first time Vic didn't celebrate Christmas after the events of season one, and/or the same after the events of season two. Millie finds Vic and her family in Haverhill during Christmastime after the events of season two.
Meal-related prompts: Vic at family meals before the events of season one, and/or in-between seasons, and/or after season two. Vic in the kitchen with her mom, or Lou, or Wayne. Descriptions of food and of taste. Food preparation as an act of love and/or domestic labor.
DNW Exceptions and Clarifications:
I DNW gore and body horror, but I am fine with canon-typical gore and body horror in a gift, though when it comes to Vic I would rather the physical violence and injury not be more extreme or graphic than what happened to her in canon.
I DNW "focus on requested characters in unrequested/unprompted ships," but for this fandom I would be happy with as much as you want to include with regard to Vic's three canon ships, regardless of whether my prompts are shippy.
I DNW noncon and rape happening in the gift, along with more instances of it happening than the canon has, but I am fine with canon-typical danger of rape and assault, and with the canon instances being referenced/portrayed in the fic with as much detail as you want to write if writing takes you in that direction.
I DNW unrequited love, but I am fine with the canon unrequited love/attraction Charlie has for Vic.
I DNW sex without attraction, but I am fine with it in the context of Vic/Charlie and his canonical unrequited attraction, and I am also good with her enjoying the sex physically even without feeling attraction to him.
I DNW "stories where nobody really cares about the woman/women in the ship," but if you do Vic/Charlie I am fine with the canon self-prioritization Charlie has going on even when he thinks of himself as giving people nice things, and I do register his hatred/obsession as a kind of "caring," even if it's not for the sake of the other person.
crossover - Fandom
Medium: Fiction
Group: Vic McQueen (NOS4A2 TV)/Wishverse Buffy Summers (BTVS TV), Group: Vic McQueen (NOS4A2 TV)/Buffy Summers (BTVS TV), Group: Drusilla (BTVS TV)/Vic McQueen (NOS4A2 TV), Group: Lyra Belacqua (His Dark Materials - Pullman) & Vic McQueen (NOS4A2 TV)
Theme: Any Theme, Any Rating
Group: Vic McQueen (NOS4A2 TV)/Wishverse Buffy Summers (BTVS TV), Group: Vic McQueen (NOS4A2 TV)/Buffy Summers (BTVS TV)
Vic gave me a lot of Buffy Summers feelings--between the sacrificing someone she loves, the self-isolating coping methods, the carrying so much inside while trying to keep together for others, the longing for a better life while feeling stuck in the one she has, feeling doomed to violence and horror, the troubled relationship with a young ward they both have with Wayne and Dawn--so I’d be into a crossover with the Buffyverse in which those two meet, whether gen or shippy. Buffy could be traveling and monster-hunting nearby, or they could meet at a bar. Wishverse Buffy is a bit like if Vic hadn't kept her connections with Maggie, Wayne, and Lou and just traveled around the country looking for Christmasland/other monsters to slay; it would be fun to see them meet as the traumatized, kinda macho facade-wearing young women they are. Also, is Wishverse Buffy as unmixy with cars as original Buffy, and does that extend to motorcycles?
Group: Drusilla (BTVS TV)/Vic McQueen (NOS4A2 TV)
I’d also be into Vic meeting Drusilla. There’s interesting potential fodder with Drusilla being a vampire who liked her vampire family and tried to remake it in canon after they had all gone different ways, how she was always set apart by her psychic gifts, and of course how her being a vampire is the end result of another vampire being obsessed with her purity and destroying her. Maybe Drusilla would like to be Vic’s vampire mommy--I liked the daddy thing she had going with Angel, and mommy kink that involves Drusilla wanting to play the nurturer with sweet talk and caresses, with the sexual element her relationships in her vampire family had, would be enjoyable! Or maybe Drusilla is the vampire who goes to Haverhill looking for Vic instead of Charlie.
Group: Lyra Belacqua (His Dark Materials - Pullman) & Vic McQueen (NOS4A2 TV)
I love both characters so much, between Lyra just being her wild self and Vic trying to be good while also trying to get out. And they both have this natural ability that helps them find things. They're both so different, Lyra with her parents being terrible on an epic scale and Vic with parents whose failings are banal but no less shitty for it, but still loved by them, and still capable of making connections to others, drawing them in, and blazing a determined trail to find and protect someone they love. I feel Lyra would respect Vic and Vic would be fascinated by Lyra. I'd love for them to meet whether at their canon ages or with Vic at Lyra's age.
Lovecraft Country (TV)
Medium: Fiction
Ruby Baptiste (Lovecraft Country TV)
Theme: Any Theme, Any Rating
Lovecraft Country is an HBO show and can be watched on HBO Max through a subscription or your HBO cable subscription. For a full list of where you can stream or buy, including in other countries--you can switch countries in the "Watch Now" section--its JustWatch page is here.
Oh my gosh, the sheer complexity of her! She's been the responsible one in her family, as she sees it, but it's such a struggle on top of the ones she already has as a dark-skinned woman in America, and to see her taking advantage of magic to do what she wants to do is electrifying. The way she struggles to reconcile that with what she knows of herself, what she thought she knew--it's a dream to watch. There’s this tension between her wanting to stand with her family and her people in general, and her wanting things for herself, which she gets to lean into once Christina taps into those frustrations and encourages Ruby to be self-serving like her. That ship is classic “come to the dark side, we have cookies” material, and I love it, with them trying to take their own pleasures with each other, actually wanting to keep each other around, even as that self-serving aspect is key to how the relationship works and threatened by Ruby’s own persistent conflict between that and genuinely wanting to be a good person, a part of her community and to protect her sister. I love the skinsuits, the horrible things Ruby is capable of taking part in while still having such a deep capacity to feel for others, because she wants to prioritize herself and enjoy the feeling that someone sees her, values her.
I'd love a further exploration of Ruby and Christina, with Ruby coming to terms with what she is and is not willing to do or allow. Maybe showing how things developed so that she did in the end choose Leti and the words she offered over Christina. Or the aftermath; it was my understanding that she had to be in a coma for Christina to take her body, but Christina said she was dead. Either way, have her back alive and dealing with the latest turn and trauma in her life. Or what she’s thinking when she decides to stop with the skinsuits. Or just a moment of pleasure, of losing and finding herself in it.
Another thing I think would be great is her relationship with Leti. It’s genuinely so troubled, but they keep coming together and reaching out for each other. Ruby tries to protect her even despite her own determination to move out of that role, and Leti is so vengeful when Christina tells her she’s dead. Now that Leti has done magic, and bound it away from all white people, can she find a way to bring Ruby back, from death or coma? Does she have to embark on a magical quest into another world, or into Ruby’s mind, so that they can reconnect and she can bring her back?
I love the genre mashup of the show, from the opening scene to the haunted house to the museum adventure to the secret magic to the dimension/time travel. Feel free to draw on fantasy/horror/scifi/adventure tropes you like (that aren’t in my DNWs or haven’t been made exceptions to my DNWs) in the process of creating for me.
Feel free to emphasize the historical stuff in this canon too! I like the way the period setting interacts with the sff aspects, both with them baked into the historical horrors and with things like Hippolyta's trip to different lives. How about a scenario in which there is contact with an alternate history of the world, with Ruby meeting another self--or not meeting herself because that world is one she couldn't exist in.
On an aesthetic level, I enjoy seeing the women's fashion, the cars, and the music of the time as depicted in the show, so emphasis on that would be lovely as well.
Time travel prompts: I think time travel/time loops could be interesting to use for IF, and time travel is canon for Lovecraft Country; I think it would work with the horror and themes of being stuck in bad patterns and with trauma. A Happy Death Day Fusion would be interesting for Ruby to go through! Or Russian Doll-style time loop, or an accidental meeting of selves from different points in time.
Holiday prompts: One of Ruby's Christmases with Leti before their mother dies, or after, or both.
Meal-related prompts: Who did most of the cooking when Ruby was growing up? Meals with particular emotional resonance or weight for her. I'd love to see food/recipes you think she would have eaten/prepared. Descriptions of food and of taste. Food preparation as an act of love and/or domestic labor.
DNW Exceptions and Clarifications:
I DNW gore and body horror, but I am good with canon-typical gore and body horror in a gift, including the skin-suits. When it comes to Ruby, I would prefer that nothing beyond what happened with her in canon happened, although new instances of those things happening are fine.
I DNW "focus on requested characters in unrequested/unprompted ships," but for this fandom I would be happy with as much as you want to include with regard to Ruby's relationships before and after Christina.
I DNW "stories where nobody really cares about the woman/women in the ship," but if you do Ruby/Christina I am fine with the canon self-prioritization Christina has going on, where as I see it she is willing to care about Ruby as long as it doesn't really cost her something she wants more, and I do register her desire for Ruby and wish to keep her around as a kind of "caring," even if it's not for Ruby's sake.
I DNW noncon and rape happening in the gift, along with more instances of it happening than the canon has, but I am fine with canon-typical danger of rape and assault, and with the canon instances being referenced/portrayed in the fic with as much detail as you want to write if writing takes you in that direction.
The Haunting of Bly Manor (TV)
Medium: Fiction
Dani Clayton
Theme: Canon Typical Horror, Any Rating
The Haunting of Bly Manor is a Netflix original series and can be found on that streaming platform.
Dani is such a contained character. I love how she holds all her pain inside while trying to be functional and good, and the cracks in that which come when she wants to be close to Jamie, when there's something to disturb the way she keeps her so many feelings from coming out. And I'd love to see different eras of her life, from how she carried her own ghost around before arriving at Bly Manor to her years with Jamie, and the years after.
Jamie says Dani is still at the manor, set to fade away like all the other ghosts, but we know she isn't; does Jamie know? What happened to Viola-within-Dani; did Dani physically taking her place in the lake release her so that she would no longer fight to exert her presence, as seemed to be the case, or was she assuaged by having someone permanently there who had invited her and kept her own personality? Was Dani bound to that spot and then unbound by her love for Jamie and Jamie remembering her, or was she never stuck there? After Jamie dies, is Dani alone, alone with Viola, or with Jamie once more? If Viola is gone, can Dani be released? Does she go through her own time/memory loops, or does the ongoing connection to a living being who loves and remembers her, unlike Viola, change that?
Holiday prompts: A white Christmas in Vermont. Their first holiday meal together.
Meal-related prompts: Meals on the road, first holiday meal together.
It didn't occur to me until writing this, but if you want to Dani to meet any of the characters in my other requests--Vic, Ruby, Buffy, Lyra--I'd be happy to see it!
DNW Exceptions and Clarifications:
I DNW "permanently dead female characters (where she’s not even a ghost)," and that applies here in that I don't want Dani to die a ghost death, but her being released from this world would be all right. Jamie eventually dying a natural death and joining her as a ghost, or to cross over, would be all right too, as would Viola crossing over.
Again, thank you so much for your work! Best wishes for your exchange experience!
