Dear Author,
Thank you so much for offering any of these things.
I am so sorry for the lateness of this letter. Please be assured that I do not mind if you don’t use it, whether because you already have something in mind or because you don’t find it very useful. The whole reason for its existence is for it to be an optional resource; the thing I am sorry for is not providing it sooner, since I chose to include a link to it in the first place. Also, please feel disregard the varying length of the sections here. Some of them are new, some of them are old, and it’s all a big mix of rambling; I would be thrilled with a gift for any of them.

Cassian Andor (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story)/Ahsoka Tano (Star Wars Animation)
They started out life on opposite sides during the Clone Wars, very young--although the difference of Ahsoka being fourteen and Cassian being six is significant--and end up being vital to the Rebellion: Ahsoka as an early leader who founded the spy network, Cassian as a leader who took the name she created and stole the Death Star plans. The other thing that interests me is that Ahsoka, while not Jyn, did need some convincing to join the Rebellion, after a year of just being on the run and doing disorganized good deeds that went against the Empire on the way. And that's after walking away from her position in the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars. Whereas Cassian got into this when he was a child and never looked back. He was certain of the cause and clung to that, where Ahsoka did not.
As the person who ran the spy network for most of the years between the rise of the empire and a New Hope, I like to think Ahsoka would have known of Cassian and perhaps even met him, before he adopted the name she created--Rogue One is only a few years after the events of Rebels, if I understand things right. Or just go AU with it. If Cassian was ten years older during the Clone Wars, might he have encountered Ahsoka directly, or indirectly? How would that work if they met again within the Rebellion? Or if he were an ISB agent and she were a Sith? what if she had been a Separatist too? If the CIS had won the war, could they both be high in the government? Or maybe just one of them, while the other is part of this AU’s Rebellion?
Anakin Skywalker (Star Wars)/Buffy Summers (Buffy the Vampire Slayer)
Two destined heroes, unconventional within their context and struggling to balance their duties with their personal desires, capable of deep love, and hellishly dangerous in battle. A slight tendency to brood and cut themselves off because they are the One and nobody else can do what they can do. Then, they both experience the depression of having to keep living when they thought their life was over, they were done, and it would have come as a relief to be dead. Fuse their universes, have one of them visit the other in a dream—they’re both psychic that way—or have some portal shenanigans with the Force/Hellmouth. Maybe one of them is stuck in a temple via cryogenics or a spell and the other finds them in the ruins. Or, they run into each other when Buffy’s in that trap that turns homeless Earth people into slave labor; maybe she ends up on Tatooine instead, or he and/or Shmi got taken there at some point from Tatooine, and they escape together. Then they bond! Maybe they’ve been dreaming of each other all this time without knowing, being a comfort to each other. Maybe when Buffy died, they connected on the astral plane, and then she’s pulled back to life…
Star Wars as an artifact of pop culture exists in the Buffyverse. I'm fine if you want to handwave that away or if you want it to remain so, however you handle it. maybe Once Upon a Time it, with there being different Realms of Story, from which Buffy characters and Star Wars characters are pulled to live in the real world. Or Jumanji it, where characters from either canon are stuck in the other and have to deal with all the rules until they get out.
Michael Burnham (Star Trek)/Buffy Summers (BTVS TV)
They come from such different contexts but they have personalities which could really vibe together! Michael is so well-educated and disciplined and cool, but so warm and supportive of her friends, and dedicated to her job, and has been willing to do things she technically isn’t supposed to do for the sake of what she thinks is right. Of course the first time we see her doing this it has disastrous and traumatic consequences, but she’s still inspired by Lorca going “context is for kings” at her before she starts finding her footing in life again. She’s brought up in a life in which she can respect authority, while getting into a situation where it’s not altogether trustworthy with Lorca and even Starfleet Command to an extent. Buffy lived so differently—her trauma came much later in childhood, and her job is something she was wholly unprepared her and drafted into rather than chose. She rebels against it even as her own dedication to principles leads her to save people anyway. She finds her footing with new friends and a new life, she’s so supportive and caring, and in her case it’s almost all the authority figures around her which suck or are otherwise unequipped to deal with what’s going on. So both characters know what it is to have to do the right thing even if it’s not what’s recommended by those above. They’re both so willing to throw themselves into the line of fire for others, and to take on all the burdens and accompanying guilt of protecting people, especially their loved ones. I just think these two woobie badasses who try so hard would be dynamite. For the how, I’d be happy with whichever scenario you come up with. Weird stuff pulling Michael to Sunnydale or Buffy into the future—Michael’s a xenoantropoligist and Buffy the canon has ancient temples—or Buffy being somehow immortal/frozen in time after the events of Chosen. Or a fusion! The future still needs Slayers—and maybe Michael is one too? Or a Watcher? Or maybe Michael and Lorca are the Riley and Maggie of the Initiative arc.
James T. Kirk (Star Trek Prime Timeline)/Buffy Summers (BTVS TV)
They’re two of a kind, in a way. They’re warm, friendly people-loving people who try to be strong and compassionate leaders and do good, and they go through some weird, terrible shit. But with totally different contexts—he’s a captain, this is part of his chosen career and he’s recognized for his performance of his duty, with a support system to go with it. Buffy’s support system is what she can find with her friends and family, who were that first before they were her teammates in world-saving, and there’s no societal support for her life, no resources for her to fall back on to help her in trauma and other times of need—which are pretty much ongoing. How would it be to put them together? Time travel is canon in Star Trek; what if Jim goes back to the Sunnydale era and finds himself in Sunnydale, unable to help feeling empathy for her or getting involved in some life-saving? Or she goes forward in time—magic shenanigans, or she’s immortal in some way after the Slayer spell and still hunts demons in the future, or she’s frozen like Khan was—and Buffy, with a future even more open than it seemed in Chosen (if also bittersweet because of the loss of her loved ones from the show), gets up to adventures with him while exploring the galaxy? Or you could do a fusion in which one of them is AU’d into the setting of the other. How does Buffy do having to slay and have a life in space—would she be interested in joining Starfleet, can she make it with her life, or does she go out on her own, or relying on other people’s resources? Or maybe she doesn’t have to slay at all, she’s just another person out there dealing with weird things, as Star Trek characters do. Maybe Jim is part of the Initiative program, or its successor group which Riley joins in canon. Also, he is reportedly a book nerd in the Academy, and college is when Buffy got to start flourishing academically and in terms of her seeming to take pleasure in her studies before she had to drop out, so there could be cute stuff with that in an AU which puts them in the same setting!
Spock (Star Trek Prime Timeline)/Buffy Summers (BTVS TV)
I like the potential vibes of this! Buffy is blatantly guided by her heart and uses it, but—struggle with accepting this thing which was thrust on her notwithstanding—she’s committed to saving people, she’s willing to sacrifice and bears the weight, containing so much pain inside her to be strong for others. And she can be a pretty observant, intuitive person with people, and so empathetic and protective. Spock is so professional and level-headed, but he does have that deep well of feeling he keeps contained, because he understands he should, and a loneliness despite being among close friends which I think they could be able to recognize in each other. Buffy has a habit of being in quiet moments and talks with guys who get where she’s at even if they have different angles: Giles, Angel, Spike. And Spock doesn’t quite have the habit, but you see him being able to connect to Zarabeth as she shares her loneliness, external factors making that easier for him notwithstanding. They both know, for different reasons, something about what it’s like to walk in two worlds and try to live a life in which their whole selves can be fulfilled instead of denied. Plus, they both died a sacrificial death only to be brought back by determined friends. He’s the logic guy, but he also respects and values people who operate a little differently—I feel like Buffy is a little like Jim. And Spock is a little like both Giles and Angel, with the researching and the curiosity about new things plus that one time he quoted Byron, and the deep well of emotion he keeps in check. Not to mention the pon farr thing, which is different from Angel’s worry about losing his soul and wanting to find peace in her, but...it’s still related to the potential danger of instinct taking over, and their fear and shame of such a thing happening. And I can’t help but compare Jim being willing to get beat up to help Spock and then faking his death, with the resulting distress on Spock’s side and his willingness to get punished afterwards, to Buffy making a feverish Angel bite her and drain her to save him, and Angel’s resulting distress at his lack of control and wanting to remove himself from Sunnydale even further as his worst fears were confirmed. (This is optional of course, but I’ll mention it because it’s where this line of thought got me: if you want to do Kirk/Spock/Buffy instead of either Jim/Buffy or Buffy/Spock, you totally can.)
As for the logistics—there’s canon time travel in Star Trek. Buffy might see him in her context of demons, because that’s what she knows, but she’s capable of recognizing this doesn’t mean she needs to hurt him pretty quickly: see Angel after the initial post-kiss shock, and Oz. As for AU’ing Spock into this setting—maybe he’s trapped in this dimension, or he/his family had to flee their home, or they ended up estranged something like in canon, and he’s got to hide himself to blend into this human society which is so much more backwards than in the TOS future, causing angst. If you want to add some mentor/mentee dynamic to it, maybe he’s a college/Starfleet Academy professor and she becomes a surprise favorite. Or he’s her Watcher (in either canon’s setting.)
Michael Burnham (Star Trek)/Ahsoka Tano (Star Wars)
They’re both warm and loving, supportive people who were taken in at a young age as part of a culture which placed a high value on emotional control and being able to be detached, but at the same time dedication to logic and Jedi dedication to the Force are pretty different! And they’re both nerds; Michael is a xenoanthropologist and Ahsoka knows languages it’s not very common for people to know, and in one of her final appearances appears to involve her delving into the mysteries of the Force. They’re also so deeply principled; they do struggle with their hearts, but they also have times when they stand in contrast with the morally compromised authority of the institutions they are/were proud to be a part of. I love how deeply the values of their culture matter to them, while at the same time they must navigate it from a position of difference. They have to reckon with who they are and the context they live in; it would be very interesting to see that play out in the context of relationships with each other. They’re both dedicated to the people they love. And they’re both funny! I think they could have fun together and be intrigued by each other. In a universe in which both the Jedi and Starfleet exist, how might people with different yet similar philosophical backgrounds relate? What if Ahsoka comes to their side of space while on her quest for Ezra? Or maybe she walks out of her dimension via Malachor and into Star Trek’s.
Spock (Star Trek Prime Timeline)/Ahsoka Tano (Star Wars)
So these two both know what it’s like to grow up in a culture which teaches mastering emotion, in different ways—logic as a philosophy versus serving the Force. Ahsoka’s a warm, expressive teenager who grows up to be a warm, if also more level and sometimes mysterious adult with a lot of hidden pain. We see Spock as an adult, also with a lot of hidden emotion and cool exterior, and a sweet side, and a subdued sort of humor—and if you are familiar with Discovery and willing to take it into account (I am happy regardless of which show’s Spock you know and write), a really angsty past in which he had to struggle to fit into the world he was born in. And as seen with Pike, he’s definitely willing to do stuff he technically shouldn’t in order to help someone he cares about. They’re both deeply loyal people. As above with Michael and Ahsoka, I love how deeply the values of their culture matter to them, while at the same time they must navigate it from a position of difference. They have to reckon with who they are and the context they live in; it would be very interesting to see that play out in the context of relationships with each other. I like to think they’d enjoy each other’s sense of humor and share some nerdiness—he’s exploring the galaxy after all, and Ahsoka has so much mystical stuff surrounding her, and we last see her going off to do her own exploring (slash rescue mission) in the Unknown Regions. In a universe in which both the Jedi and Starfleet exist, how might people with different yet similar philosophical backgrounds relate? Not to mention, Vulcans are kind of psychic and so are Jedi/Force-users; how might that mix? What if Ahsoka comes to their side of space while on her quest for Ezra? Or maybe she walks out of her dimension via Malachor and into Star Trek’s.
Ben Solo | Kylo Ren (SWST)/Ahsoka Tano (SWR)
One of the most intriguing get-togethers that hasn’t happened. In their own ways, they each represent Anakin’s legacy, and they have their own relationships to that and to him. Ahsoka is his path not taken, having faced her own capacity for darkness when she wanted vengeance and chose against it, and Kylo Ren believes he is continuing his work by choosing against his capacity for goodness; as they both turn away and leave him behind, they continue on their paths, one to remove herself from the galaxy at large until she is needed and the other to dominate it in an attempt to fulfill his own needs. Does Kylo Ren ever find out his grandfather had an apprentice? What if he met her on some pilgrimage to Malachor? Or, in a universe where Anakin survived and Ben Solo still became Kylo Ren, would Kylo Ren find them together, and perhaps come to a different choice? Or maybe he finds Ahsoka in a sleep-like trance in the ruins of Malachor, and waking her leads to her being able to ward off Snoke’s influence? Maybe she trains him instead of or in addition to Luke, or a repentant Ben finds her when he’s trying to put what’s left of his destruction into a new life.
Poe Dameron (SWST)/Ahsoka Tano (SWR)
Ahsoka would be a legend by now, and I really like the idea of her having authority over Poe—or sway if she’s not an official part of the Resistance for whatever reason. What if she’s one of his heroes? Meanwhile, his being a hotshot pilot could give her a little nostalgia. She could keep an eye on him, but not really mind. Maybe she’s just come back from Malachor, and it’s the future, and she’s willing to help the Resistance once they’ve all confirmed who they are (perhaps with some help from Leia or Chewie). Or she’s one of the allies in the Outer Rim, having returned from the Unknown Regions, and he might’ve been sent to her; alternately, she saves them at the eleventh hour and they have an encounter in a brief moment of downtime.
Ahsoka Tano (Star Wars)/Brienne of Tarth (Game of Thrones)
I think this could be cool! One noble disillusioned would-be-knight to another; what might they talk about? I’m down for either a crossover crossover—maybe mystical shenanigans involving temples—or a fusion in which one of them is AU’d into the universe of the other. Imagine them traveling together, trying to do good, Brienne wanting to honor her oaths, Ahsoka having forsaken her position and all its duties but still feeling compelled to adhere to the values she developed during her training.
Sybel (The Forgotten Beasts of Eld)/Daenerys Targaryen (Game of Thrones)
I’m mostly familiar with the show, but I’d enjoy a meeting with book Daenerys as well, or a combination of show and book elements. They both bond with legendary beasts, but in different ways, and they’re both beautiful white-haired ladies who exist at a kind of remove from everyone else, even if Daenerys is surrounded by people and tries to find belonging in her quest for queenship/saving the world, while Sybel was content to live with the beasts. Too, they both carry on different family legacies in a way: Daenerys carries the burden of her name and her desire to do better than her ancestors, and is the first in many years to be able to wake a dragon; Sybel takes to the ways of her family in her care and calling of beasts, and is doing so undisrupted until the events of the book. What if one of them were AU’d into the other’s setting, or both settings were fused together?
Twelfth Doctor (Doctor Who) & Michael Burnham (Star Trek Prime Timeline) & Spock (Star Trek PT)
Gah, the ending for Michael and Spock is so bittersweet—beautiful and sad, to quote Lady Me. And the Doctor as Twelve can be gruff, but he’s also this guy who likes doing the fairy godmother thing—I think of his goodbye Christmas special, and his being willing to change the time when he said he would be at the trenches, just to save one soldier so he can go back to his family. And of course he’d get involved in something about an AI trying to exterminate all sentient life, and maybe detect the time-traveling Gabrielle Burnham too. And he knows so much, and Michael and Spock are both scientists, curious and interested in new things.
Thirteenth Doctor (Doctor Who) & Michael Burnham (Star Trek Prime Timeline) & Spock (Star Trek PT)
As above, but with Thirteen! I love the angsty siblings, I love Thirteen’s compassion and quirkiness, and I think of the dynamic the Doctor has with the people she took on, and how they started out with issues they dealt with during their travels with her—why not this but with Spock and Michael? During a one-off adventure or as companions? (Of course I don’t mean you can’t include the companions Thirteen already has; I love Yasmin and Ryan and Graham and would be happy to have them be in the story with them too!) Plus all three of these characters are brilliant nerds, and then sometimes they all need to save the world/galaxy via time travel.
Star Wars: Rebels
Ahsoka Tano/Darth Vader (Star Wars: Rebels)
Fanfiction
I really love these two, how they mirror each other and go such down different paths, how first Anakin tries to hold onto Ahsoka and then Ahsoka tries to hold onto him, the tragedy of their failure to manage it and living with that. It seems to me that trying to kill Ahsoka was not in Vader’s plan—he’d wanted her alive before, and he had opportunities he didn’t take—so what would he do if he ever did find out she survived him? Especially if she never came out to try and find him. Does he try to keep her a secret? Keep on going in the face of her not coming back? Or maybe he tries to reach her after he’s gone back to the Light Side; what do they say, and how do they begin to move on? Does she know it, with the mystical transformation she seems to have undergone by then? Or what if he actually survived—they thought their time to live was over, and now they have to deal with living in a galaxy they never expected, together. Is he exiled or hidden in some distant world, or even in the Unknown Regions, and does she go with him or does she find him? Or a fairytale AU! Some fairytales I can think of that might be relevant to this pairing are “The Snow Queen” and “East of the Sun, West of the Moon.” I can also see a bit of a Hades/Persephone element.

Anakin Skywalker/Ahsoka Tano (Clone Wars)
I really love these two, how they mirror each other and go such down different paths, how first Anakin tries to hold onto Ahsoka and then Ahsoka tries to hold onto him, the tragedy of their failure to manage it and living with that. I’d love something sweet during any time period; what about one of the times he’s sharing his mechanical knowledge—which he got from his mother—with her? I like to think it’s his way of meditation, and that it’s how he trains her with regard to that aspect of Jedi life. Or what about after a battle, when they both need to talk or just be together? I really liked the point in her novel where she’s thinking about how he used to take care of her after battles, help her deal with the mental toll of the war. I love their banter and their pleasure in dangerous situations, so maybe a moment building on that. Or something leaning on the near-telepathic abilities the Force gives them, with regard to being able to sense each others' feelings--they might sense something and pursue the matter, or get distracted and lose control of their own feelings. Not to mention, the Force gives them more stamina, so they could last awhile. Maybe they could celebrate a victory, or just let out their mischievous/competitive side during sex/something romantic. Or they could have any of the conversations they might otherwise engage in, except during sex/something romantic. Or they could be fixing his prosthesis! How about an AU where one or both of them was never found by the Jedi: Anakin remains a slave, Ahsoka was successfully captured as a toddler and sold by the bounty hunter (I love that bit of her backstory for the what-if of how she nearly had another thing in common with Anakin), so they run into each other under those circumstances; only one of them goes through what’s described above, until they’re found by the Sith, while the other remains a Jedi. I’d also love a Regency AU (set in space or somewhere more historical) akin to Sorcerer of the Crown by Zen Cho, with Anakin in this unstable position in society due to his origins and Ahsoka, also with a less than respectable background, swooping into his life with all her confidence and talent. Or a fairytale AU! Some fairytales I can think of that might be relevant to this pairing are “The Snow Queen” and “East of the Sun, West of the Moon.”
Dooku/Ahsoka Tano (Clone Wars)
They both left the Jedi, disillusioned, and took very different paths. It’d be fun to give them a reason to talk to each other! If Ahsoka had been with Anakin in the rescue of the Chancellor, would she have stopped him? What if she had, and things turned out so that Dooku felt he had to run off with her as a hostage for safety? What if Ahsoka went into the past from Rebels and, trying to avoid meeting herself and anyone she was close to directly, fell into working with her old enemies by accident? Maybe she ends up working with Dooku instead; older Ahsoka gives him a shock, being wiser and more powerful, and he ends up reconsidering his allegiance to his master? Of course, eventually her Force presence and the shenanigans do bring her to the attention of her former self and her old master…Alternately, Dooku ends up going forward—perhaps in the World Between Worlds, Ahsoka looks on a scene with him and they can feel her gaze, so they investigate and she winds up pulling him through. They then find themselves adrift in a new galaxy, working with the last Jedi against the Empire they were all used to build, and more directly against an enemy Ahsoka once knew. I also like the idea of them being stuck in loops, but the Force-sensitives being able to feel impressions of all the previous loops, which affects their dynamics and feelings for each other throughout time.
Star Trek: Alternate Original Series (Movies)
Spock/Nyota Uhura (Star Trek: Alternate Original Series)
Fanfiction
I love these two, and the little stuff in the background as well as the forefront. The professionalism of them working together, where of course she’s going to face him about him letting their relationship influence where he puts her so that she’s in a lower position, his caving to her because he knows she’s right, and all the unspoken stuff underlying the interaction—and the sweet quiet moments of her trying to support him and him letting her support him, being affectionate, and then the idea that the original Spock being around both means that this Spock can continue onto the life he originally led on the Enterprise, and simultaneously means he’s going to live a different one from the start, more open to guidance from his emotions, with that benefit of hindsight.
I’d just love backstory for their relationship, missing scenes, or just future nice things going on while they’re embarking on adventures. Hanging out on New Vulcan, talking about each others’ families, bonding over geeky stuff, or doing plot-of-the-week stuff while exploring the galaxy with their crew.

Spock/Nyota Uhura (Star Trek: TOS)
This is mostly something we see in the background, but I love it. The little flirtation, the way he seems to enjoy her teasing him, that they seem to respect each other and have common interests in the language of music—the cut scene from “Elaan of Troyius” in which he’s interested in teaching her Vulcan music theory and she suggests the song he was playing was a little more exciting than he thought; I wish it had been kept!--and that, made more expressive by merging with Kollos, he recites Byron to her about how beautiful she is! She makes him think of Byron! And he seems to be around a lot to help her after something shakes the bridge and knocks her down. They’re both these cool, professional people who are friendly and enjoy each other, with Uhura being more expressive and Spock being subtler while having his own sense of fun, and I feel like they’d be relaxed together, and open to learning all sorts of things from each other.
They don’t seem to be together in canon, at least not all the time, because it doesn’t come up the few times he gets a girl-of-the-week, but it would be cool to do something in which they were and you can do missing scenes, fic where they turn out to be together in the background of some plot while everything is the same as it happened on the show, or they get together and break up but then get back together again after the events of the show, or they pine a lot while being professional and there’s tension, with eventual resolution of this tension. Maybe some external event thrusts them together, like sex pollen, and they already had feelings so this is a delicate situation throughout/in the aftermath. Or they were already together, so it’s a different delicate situation. Or they have to huddle for warmth, and he really worries about protecting Uhura because her normal human temperature is cooler than his already and she worries about him because this is so not the environment his species adapted to, and they make each other feel better.
Mirror Spock/Mirror Nyota Uhura (Star Trek: TOS)
So I really enjoyed the little hint of how their relationship might mirror the one in the prime universe. That comment to Nyota pretending to be Mirror Nyota about Spock not being around to protect her?
Neither of them is a good person in this place, but they can still care about each other, maybe—or maybe she got into his good graces, convinced him of the logic of an alliance, since they can use all the allies they can in such a cutthroat environment, particularly with it being a Terran empire (especially if you take Discovery into account, though you don’t have to of course, it’s a different fandom) and him being a first officer. How do they navigate the mirror universe? What happens after the episode, with Spock considering changing his goals from merely following his orders and keeping himself secure and having that insta-kill weapon, and Uhura having a brief taste of what it was like in the nicer universe? Given that he’s willing to force a mind-meld on the people he thinks it will work on to gain answers when he needs them, how would that work out with someone he might have an alliance with? Also, the characters are not entirely unlike their prime counterparts, with Spock being the pragmatic guy and even able to be swayed into trying to create a more civilized galaxy; how is mirror Nyota like the one we know? She’s got to be nerdy and competent, as well as a cunning survivor to get this far. Is there perhaps anything like how the prime Spock and Nyota bond over music and learning?
Mirror Spock/Nyota Uhura (Star Trek: TOS)
Following up on the thought of what their relationship might be like in this universe, based on the comment from Mirror Sulu...what if they’d had reason to encounter each other during the episode? If Nyota is sort of under his protection here, how does that go? What does she think of hearing that, and does she plan/attempt to use it, just as she was willing to use Sulu’s attention? What if she’s the one he tries to get answers from when it comes to how oddly their captain is behaving (and does he notice that they are working together?)—does ask her about it? Does he do a mind-meld like he did with McCoy? Does he just plow forward to force one or would he expect her to accede to it if he asks as part of whatever deal they might have, or to offer him access to her mind without him having to ask, or what? Feel free to go with the idea that either or both of them is in a romantic/sexual relationship with their own universe’s version of the other—or not, as you wish.
Spock/Mirror Nyota Uhura (Star Trek: TOS)
So he caught out the Mirror counterparts pretty fast! With the idea presented in one quick line about her being protected by him in her universe, and with them having a connection of some sort in the prime universe, how might that inform their first meeting? Does he get a chance to talk to her before anyone else and thus before he finds out what happened, or does he need to corral her later? What do they think of this? Feel free to go with the idea that either or both of them is in a romantic/sexual relationship with their own universe’s version of the other—or not, as you wish.

Michael Burnham & Spock (Star Trek: Discovery), Michael Burnham/Spock (Star Trek: Discovery)
Why do I watch prequels when they hurt me? He wanted to follow her! He was going to do it and then he couldn’t. And even when they were fighting, he was so self-conscious about the beard when she caught him off-guard—it was so cute. After a whole season of her trying to help him and they started to reconnect, and him being supportive with the chess, and her punching Leland, and the big speech at the end because he wanted to watch her back personally; I am so sad.
I am willing to receive more sadness! Not bleak stuff, but the bittersweetness and hope of the ending we got. I’m also willing to receive fluff, and them trying to take care of each other. Fix-its in which they reconcile sooner, or he does go with her, a missing scene if you can find a place to put it, maybe a conversation about what their plans to go will do to their parents because holy shit. Or childhood backstory, maybe from before Michael did her thing to isolate herself from Spock for his own good; or maybe she doesn’t make that decision this time, and they can be a little happier. Frozen AU/fusion, because Michael is Elsa and Spock is Anna. For a specifically shippy prompt...I like the idea of her shaving his beard instead of him doing it himself. Maybe pon farr is a thing Michael ends up helping him with…possibly even before they can reconcile, for the angst. But if you would like to take some of the stuff I mentioned above in a shippy direction, or want to do something else, that’s also good! For that matter, if you like the idea of Michael shaving off Spock’s beard without it being shippy, that too would please me!
Michael Burnham & Amanda Grayson/Sarek & Spock (Star Trek: Discovery)
Same as the above except expanded to more of the family! I love how the gears are not working smoothly in those dynamics but there’s so much love there. The very fraught Michael and Sarek relationship, with the insecurity in Michael and the way Sarek seemed to recognize some of his mistakes but then pulled back from her anyway, only to be proud of her, and Michael coming to terms with who he was and how it didn’t reflect on her. They seemed to have come to a nicer, warmer place in season two. Michael and Amanda were such a warm contrast, but still conflicted in Michael’s feeling she’d hurt not only Spock, but Amanda, and Amanda fearing that she had failed Spock somewhere along the way and trying to protect him, which is there even though it seems she and Spock currently have the smoothest and trusting relationship—which is so sweet to see! Then the sadness of the distance between Sarek and Spock, who feels his father views him as a disappointment just like Michael did in the first season, and of course their relationship can’t be repaired during the show because it’s a prequel. And of course the angst and reconciliation of Michael and Spock, which I talk about above in their own section, and all the goodbyes when most of them come together.
As mentioned above, I am all for more sadness, or fix-it AUs. They can reconcile sooner, or hell, maybe we get a scene in which Amanda and Sarek learn they’re going to lose both of their children after all, and this can bring them all together as a family like Amanda wanted. Or childhood backstory, maybe from before Michael did her thing to isolate herself from Spock for his own good; or maybe she doesn’t make that decision this time, and they can be a little happier.
Gabrielle Burnham & Michael Burnham (Star Trek: Discovery)
Because this family needed more angst! Of course it did. I was so happy to see Gabrielle pop up in season two, and how the Michael/Philippa story at the center of the first season was succeeded by this plot in particular. I love that these relationships are so central to who Michael is, well into her present and now future. It’s so messed-up that Gabrielle had to get used to the pain of not being able to be with her daughter, and for Michael to not even get to see her at first because at this point she was all mission. How about stuff from before they were separated, or from Gabrielle watching her daughter? Or Michael on inheriting her mother’s mission. Do they ever find each other again, in the future? Is Gabrielle okay, or does she need physical healing? What about the mental/emotional healing both of them need after all this trauma?
Mirror Philippa Georgiou/Michael Burnham (Star Trek: Discovery)
Gah, the tragedy, the star-crossedness of it all. They loved the other versions of themselves, and these new people are different, but somehow, they still are people who they love. And they accept it, but then deny its power over them to an extent, and they find themselves in opposition—and Georgiou tries to kill her mother to have Michael to herself, of all things—but she also goes and follows Michael into the unknown future. I love it, and I love Michael not being able to betray her, but using her love for her to get Georgiou to back off when she needs to, putting her life in her hands, and then not trusting her later because hello, logic. I’d love to see a tug of war between them, more conversations and poking at each other and mutual recognition of the emotions which exist between them and how they’re both willing to use them, but still value each other.
Mirror Gabriel Lorca/Michael Burnham (Star Trek: Discovery)
This was so messed up and hot? The mixed-up sort of parental/lover role he had with the other her, and the way she sees him as a mentor and someone who gave her a chance she didn’t think she would have or even wish to take, and then he’s such a disappointment, but she really is committed to the ideals he couldn’t uphold and meant it about how Starfleet would’ve helped him get home if he’d just asked instead. Also stuff like him kneeling...yes. How about more messed up stuff? Missing scenes, or something in which getting to the Mirror Universe takes longer/doesn’t happen the way it did on the show, and she gets suspicious of him earlier on, and there’s her logic plus trust in him pitted against his charisma and investment in her.
Again, I am so thankful for your work and very excited to see it, whatever it will be!
