Parallels and contrasts between characters and their journeys.
Characters looking out for each other and rescuing each other, giving care and emotional support. Especially women receiving care and support, getting their needs made a priority by their loved ones.
Canon divergence and role reversals are loved, though I also enjoy other AUs.

Anakin Skywalker (Star Wars)/Daenerys Targaryen (Star Wars)
These two are charged with energy all by themselves, and the thought of them with each other is delicious. Both of them have this intensity of feeling, as well as the whiff of prophecy about them. They both have a desire to remake the world around them for the better, and a ruthlessness in following that drive. With interesting differences: where Dany is willing to learn to rule and to navigate mercy while in an environment that encourages violence, Anakin is raised to value mercy but struggles to adhere to it, and he isn’t raised to think he can rule—he just decides it as part of his personal fuck everything breakdown. What would it be like, if they could meet? The potential vibe reminds me of the Daario scene where he kneels and delivers the heads of her enemies. At the same time, they started out as gentler souls, and they have love in their hearts. They could share an understanding, I think. They’d be a potent mix. Also, I like the appearance of flight in their stories: Anakin is the best flyer and it’s part of how he got out of slavery, where Daenerys is the first to fly dragons in many years, which provides her with both power and a means of escape. Plus they both love doing it. And I know this is more book Daenerys, and I haven’t read the books, but the line “if I look back, I am lost” has always been very striking; it seems like something that could apply to Anakin, who, as he states in The Clone Wars film, “[doesn’t] want to talk about my past...The desert is merciless.
It takes everything from you.”
Feel free to AU either of them into the other’s universe, or have them share one, or let the mystical shenanigans fly free. They dream of each other during bad times, they might or might not know they will meet.
Anakin Skywalker (Star Wars)/Buffy Summers (BtVS)
Two destined heroes, unconventional within their context and struggling to balance their duties with their personal desires, capable of deep love, and hellishly dangerous in battle. A slight tendency to brood and cut themselves off because they are the One and nobody else can do what they can do. Then, they both experience the depression of having to keep living when they thought their life was over, they were done, and it would have come as a relief to be dead. Fuse their universes, have one of them visit the other in a dream—they’re both psychic that way—or have some portal shenanigans with the Force/Hellmouth. Maybe one of them is stuck in a temple via cryogenics or a spell and the other finds them in the ruins. Or, they run into each other when Buffy’s in that trap that turns homeless Earth people into slave labor; maybe she ends up on Tatooine instead, or he and/or Shmi got taken there at some point from Tatooine, and they escape together. Then they bond! Maybe they’ve been dreaming of each other all this time without knowing, being a comfort to each other. Maybe when Buffy died, they connected on the astral plane, and then she’s pulled back to life…
Poe Dameron (SWST)/Ahsoka Tano (SW Animation)
Ahsoka would be a legend by now, and I really like the idea of her having authority over Poe—or sway if she’s not an official part of the Resistance for whatever reason. What if she’s one of his heroes? Meanwhile, his being a hotshot pilot could give her a little nostalgia. She could keep an eye on him, but not really mind. Maybe she’s just come back from Malachor, and it’s the future, and she’s willing to help the Resistance once they’ve all confirmed who they are (perhaps with some help from Leia or Chewie). Or she’s one of the allies in the Outer Rim, having returned from the Unknown Regions, and he might’ve been sent to her; alternately, she saves them at the eleventh hour and they have an encounter in a brief moment of downtime.

Buffy Summers (BtVS)/Unicorn | Lady Amalthea (The Last Unicorn - Beagle)
Daenerys Targaryen (GoT)/Unicorn | Lady Amalthea (The Last Unicorn - Beagle)
Ahsoka Tano (Star Wars)/Unicorn | Lady Amalthea (The Last Unicorn - Beagle)
This came about because Amalthea being a Unicorn forced into a mortal body and Ahsoka having the avatar of the Light Side put into her make them a potentially interesting pair. That and how they both experience being the last of their kind, what it’s like to have to change in the face of that, the refusal to let it be true in their search for others. They also both exist somewhere in-between two categories of being: the Unicorn after Amalthea knows love and regret, Ahsoka throughout her life knows and accepts her attachments even as she lets them go.
They’re both beautiful, wise, mystical beings touched by ordinary life and yet living apart from it. I’d love anything that works with that.
Maybe the Unicorn’s forest is a whole planet, or some sacred untouched place far from the center of the galaxy. Maybe Ahsoka is pulled in during her travels, or instead of going back to Malachor from the World Between Worlds? Or you could AU Ahsoka into the setting, have her be a wandering knight and mystic the Unicorn or Amalthea meets on her travels. What if, when Ahsoka died on Mortis, she spent the moments she was dead somewhere else, with time working differently there?
Buffy Summers (BtVS)/Ahsoka Tano (Star Wars)
They’re both so resilient and brave and snarky. They are both lost to themselves and to the world sometimes, but they persist in living and eventually finding meaning and purpose in their fight again. They’re unconventional and independent and caring and that’s what saves them, and what makes them good leaders who inspire others and connect to them in terrible circumstances. Fuse their universes, have one of them visit the other in a dream—they’re both psychic that way—or have some portal shenanigans with the Force/Hellmouth. Maybe one of them is stuck in a temple via cryogenics or a spell and the other finds them in the ruins. Or, they run into each other when Buffy’s in that trap that turns homeless Earth people into slave labor; maybe in this case it’s actually something like the hunting game Ahsoka got caught in during The Clone Wars, and this time they’re trapped together! Escaping and bonding ensues.
Daenerys Targaryen (GoT)/Yvaine (Stardust 2007)
Buffy Summers (BtVS)/Yvaine (Stardust 2007)
Anakin Skywalker (Star Wars)/Buffy Summers (BtVS)/Ahsoka Tano (Star Wars)
Am I smooshing favorite characters from different canons here? Yes. Both Anakin and Ahsoka remind me of Buffy and vice versa: the compassion, emotionality, and snark with all three; the destiny and constant striving for a personal life with Anakin and Buffy; the determination to do what's right and question authority with Ahsoka and Buffy. They’re also all supremely skilled fighters who like getting a good workout. And they’ve all experienced mystical dreams in one form or another. To add to the comparisons, Buffy’s love Angel does turn out to be a Chosen One too, with a destiny that could have been be either the hero or the villain—you could work with how Ahsoka became the embodiment of light while Anakin, both then and later, followed the darkness. Or you could meld it with Ahsoka’s capture on Mortis: Anakin’s the Chosen One and she’s been influenced by evil, but Ahsoka’s Ahsoka.
As for how to make it happen; I'm mostly interested in the mechanics as a way to throw the characters together, but if you want to weave the mechanics in as a part of that, I'd love that too! Buffyverse canon includes alternate universes and dimensions, along with portals and spells designed to bring/send things from one place to the other. Star Wars has its own weird mystical worlds going on. Work with that as you will.
Ahsoka Tano (Star Wars)/Yvaine (Stardust 2007)
Yvaine watches the world, and is not part of it; Ahsoka is part of it, but meant more to help here and there as a Jedi than to take a role in galactic affairs. They both love adventure and action, even if Yvaine has never known it before falling from the sky. They’re both wanderers, and mystical beings of a sort: Yvaine the star, Ahsoka what’s left of the Daughter, the embodiment of light. If you go with the book version of Stardust, they can never be among their kind again, and they continue after the people they love most are gone; there’s a breath of loneliness to them.
What if Stormhold is a planet, and Ahsoka comes to consult—and to grieve—with its ruler? Or maybe she just comes to investigate some strangeness associated with it. Or Ahsoka is an immortal being, coming to join the land of Faerie after the long ago events of her life, and meets Yvaine on an adventure there? Maybe Ahsoka is pulled in during her travels, or instead of going back to Malachor from the World Between Worlds? What if, when Ahsoka died on Mortis, she spent the moments she was dead somewhere else, with time working differently there?
Ares (XWP)/Daenerys Targaryen (GoT)/Xena (XWP)
Ahsoka Tano (Star Wars)/Thor (MCU)
I like their arc of embracing their culture and wanting to be the best within it, only to become disillusioned as they learn more about the Jedi/Asgard and their relationship to their cultures and to the wider universe. I also enjoy their confidence and their fighter’s instinct. What if an AU in which Jedi Ahsoka has to be part of a mission with prince Thor? Or Ahsoka, a refugee in the wake of the Empire’s rise, meets King Thor and his Asgardian refugees? Or both?
Death of the Endless (Sandman)/Buffy Summers (BtVS)
Lucifer Morningstar (Lucifer TV)/Buffy Summers (BtVS)
James Norrington (Pirates of the Caribbean)/Buffy Summers (Buffy the Vampire Slayer)
I think they’d be really fun, what with how James is kind of but not really like Giles, and how Buffy is a bit but not really like Elizabeth. She’s bold and breaks the rules as it suits her; he’s got a bit of scruffiness potential under his formality and social awkwardness when it comes to romance. Maybe Buffy is sent back in time through a curse and has to rough it in the Caribbean...or James is cursed—perhaps in an AU where he’s the one to stab Davy Jones’ heart—and lives until Buffy’s time. Or he’s trapped in some kind of artifact Buffy encounters in her travels post-canon: that seems like the kind of thing which might’ve happened to him if he’d lived.
Death of the Endless (Sandman)/Ahsoka Tano (Star Wars)
As with the ship with Dream above, it’s interesting to think of Ahsoka’s connections to the mystical. She’s died and lived again, and then that same event led to her escaping death at the hands of the person who’d intially saved her. What does Death think about this, and what kind of conversations might they have? Would Ahsoka delving into mysteries of the Force let her talk to Death again?

Anakin Skywalker/Ahsoka Tano (TCW)
I really love these two, how they mirror each other and go such down different paths, how first Anakin tries to hold onto Ahsoka and then Ahsoka tries to hold onto him, the tragedy of their failure to manage it and living with that. I’d love something sweet during any time period; what about one of the times he’s sharing his mechanical knowledge—which he got from his mother—with her? I like to think it’s his way of meditation, and that it’s how he trains her with regard to that aspect of Jedi life. Or what about after a battle, when they both need to talk or just be together? I really liked the point in her novel where she’s thinking about how he used to take care of her after battles, help her deal with the mental toll of the war. I love their banter and their pleasure in dangerous situations, so maybe a moment building on that. Or something leaning on the near-telepathic abilities the Force gives them, with regard to being able to sense each others' feelings--they might sense something and pursue the matter, or get distracted and lose control of their own feelings. Not to mention, the Force gives them more stamina, so they could last awhile. Maybe they could celebrate a victory, or just let out their mischievous/competitive side during sex/something romantic. Or they could have any of the conversations they might otherwise engage in, except during sex/something romantic. Or they could be fixing his prosthesis! How about an AU where one or both of them was never found by the Jedi: Anakin remains a slave, Ahsoka was successfully captured as a toddler and sold by the bounty hunter (I love that bit of her backstory for the what-if of how she nearly had another thing in common with Anakin), so they run into each other under those circumstances; only one of them goes through what’s described above, until they’re found by the Sith, while the other remains a Jedi. Or maybe he tries to reach her after he’s gone back to the Light Side; what do they say, and how do they begin to move on? Does she know it, with the mystical transformation she seems to have undergone by then? Or what if he actually survived—they thought their time to live was over, and now they have to deal with living in a galaxy they never expected, together. I’d also love a Regency AU (set in space or somewhere more historical) akin to Sorcerer of the Crown by Zen Cho, with Anakin in this unstable position in society due to his origins and Ahsoka, also with a less than respectable background, swooping into his life with all her confidence and talent. Or a fairytale AU! Some fairytales I can think of that might be relevant to this pairing are “The Snow Queen” and “East of the Sun, West of the Moon.” I also have time travel prompts for them in this letter.
Miraj Scintel/Ahsoka Tano (TCW)
What if Ahsoka didn’t need to break her cover? What kind of interactions might they have had? Miraj found her attractive, but rebellious. Still, she seemed into strength. What arrangement would she try to make with Ahsoka, if Ahsoka proved her strength to her?
Or, you could go AU with it. The Zygerrians and the Togruta seem like they might’ve had an interesting history together. What if the Zygerrian empire, or its remnants, were still powerful, and Ahsoka was sent there by the Togrutas as a tribute, or a peace offering, and/or part of an arranged marriage to protect Shili from being enslaved? Or maybe Ahsoka really was taken by a slaver as a child instead of the real Jedi—the early designs for that impostor Jedi eventually became the Zygerrians—and ended up in Miraj’s court, a valuable slave and/or bodyguard thanks to her Force abilities?
Miraj Scintel/Anakin Skywalker/Ahsoka Tano (TCW)
Miraj Scintel found both Ahsoka and Anakin attractive and things could have gone differently for both of them. What if, when accepting Ahsoka as a slave, she wanted to seal the deal by enjoying them both—or she just wanted to watch—and Anakin broke their cover to protect Ahsoka, failed as in the show and things went south? Or what if Ahsoka convinced him not to break it? What if they try to pretend he’s had her for pleasure before? How long does it last before they can escape and free the other slaves? Or there’s a missing scene from the episodes where something like this happened before Ahsoka got put in the cage and they had to wait to see if the other was all right. Maybe Anakin tries to make her enjoy it, to make it less awful for her, and it only gives her—and him—more to process after it’s all done? Or Miraj makes Ahsoka ride him and he encourages her, trying to reassure her? I’m imagining a scenario where they were already attracted to each other (feel free to pretend Padmé never happened or not, as you wish.) Them both being Force-sensitive would make it even more intense—the sensations, their existing Force-bond connection, their feelings. Then there’s the part where in the show, Anakin seemed to develop sympathy for Miraj, despite his hatred of slavery and slavers—his past would seem to be relevant here, as well as perhaps the Jedi training on compassion and his ability to feel for people; how would he and Ahsoka handle that when they’re being forced into this situation and watching what’s happening to the other as well as themselves?
I’d also really love Anakin and Ahsoka trying to recover together, taking care of each other, trauma-bonding. Anakin tries to help Ahsoka through it, as he does after their usual battles and struggles, and Ahsoka tries to help him in turn; maybe sharing the experience brings him to talk about his past as a slave, and they become closer. What if they reclaim intimacy and the relationship and need to touch each other more in the aftermath? What if they end up feeling more comfortable being vulnerable physically and emotionally with each other as they recover?

Ahsoka Tano/Darth Vader (SW Rebels)
I really love these two, how they mirror each other and go such down different paths, how first Anakin tries to hold onto Ahsoka and then Ahsoka tries to hold onto him, the tragedy of their failure to manage it and living with that. It seems to me that trying to kill Ahsoka was not in Vader’s plan—he’d wanted her alive before, and he had opportunities he didn’t take—so what would he do if he ever did find out she survived him? Especially if she never came out to try and find him. Does he try to keep her a secret? Keep on going in the face of her not coming back? Or maybe he tries to reach her after he’s gone back to the Light Side; what do they say, and how do they begin to move on? Does she know it, with the mystical transformation she seems to have undergone by then? Or what if he actually survived—they thought their time to live was over, and now they have to deal with living in a galaxy they never expected, together. Is he exiled or hidden in some distant world, or even in the Unknown Regions, and does she go with him or does she find him? Or a fairytale AU! Some fairytales I can think of that might be relevant to this pairing are “The Snow Queen” and “East of the Sun, West of the Moon.” I can also see a bit of a Hades/Persephone element. I also have time travel prompts for them in this letter.
Ahsoka Tano/Sabine Wren (SWR)
What if instead of Sabine finding the Ghost crew, Ahsoka picked up this demolitions expert for the Rebellion? Sabine has this guilt over her part in giving the Empire resources, and Ahsoka is aware of her own unknowing complicity during the Clone Wars in the rise of the Empire. That could be interesting to explore! Or, if Ahsoka is a goddess, maybe the prompt mentioned above with art in which Ahsoka is depicted in connection to the Daughter can be an element in a story with this relationship.

Kaeden Larte/Ahsoka Tano (SW Ahsoka), Kaeden Larte/Anakin Skywalker/Ahsoka Tano (SW Ahsoka)
Medium: Fanfiction – Freeform
Kaeden Larte/Ahsoka Tano (SW Ahsoka)
These two were sweet, and sad. Kaeden and her home’s plight reawakened Ahsoka to herself, gave her her purpose back when she had lost her moorings more thoroughly than she could ever have expected. Ahsoka gave Kaeden a way out of the hopeless situation she was in, and a way into fighting it, getting another life. I’d love for them to meet again; maybe during the course of a mission, or after the war is over. Or maybe a quiet moment thinking of the other while they’re apart. Or something of their days together on Raada, Ahsoka being mysterious and perhaps broody but kind, and Kaeden being intrigued and kind in return.
Kaeden Larte/Anakin Skywalker/Ahsoka Tano (SW Ahsoka)
Ahsoka loves them both a lot. I love her missing Anakin and I love how meeting Kaeden is part of her regaining the sense of purpose and belonging she lost when she left him. And Kaeden could have two awesome warrior lovers to protect her! I’d love some AU where Anakin is on the run too and they welcome him into their relationship, or perhaps Anakin was with Ahsoka when she hid on Raada. Or, what if Ahsoka and Kaeden wander the galaxy doing good, and then suddenly they need to rescue Anakin? Or what if Anakin joined up with the Rebellion and is the person who reaches out to recruit Ahsoka, having been searching for her the whole time?
Darth Vader comes to Raada instead of an Inquisitor. Ahsoka has to worry about her old master, her new (not)girlfriend and family, and possibly a new pupil in Hedala while dealing with the attentions of the Sith and the Empire. Kaeden has to deal with her (not)girlfriend’s past coming back to haunt them both. Ahsoka is the’s the first (not)Jedi Vader sees after Mustafar; he didn’t know but he’s not surprised.
Or Vader goes there knowing he’ll find Ahsoka, and Ahsoka has to juggle the safety of Kaeden and her newfound friends with the need to go see him and figure things out; she’s already the mystery woman who’s friendly but keeps at a certain distance due to her past, and such a situation would only amplify that. What about an AU in which Sith Ahsoka comes by Raada and picks up a girlfriend? She spares Miara out of mercy/for points with Kaeden.

Arya Stark/Daenerys Targaryen (GoT TV)
I like the parallels here—two girls with families overthrown/deemed enemies, traveling and learning how to survive in environments and situations their birth would’ve otherwise protected them from, able to connect and empathize with people from the lower classes. And, of course, there is the willingness to take vengeance. What if Arya had met her instead of staying in the cities?
Cersei Lannister/Daenerys Targaryen (GoT)
The hate sex would be tremendous! What if Daenerys came back to Westeros sooner, and marriage was seen as a way to keep Cersei safe and in power? Or Cersei used Missandei as a hostage to lure Daenerys in close, hoping to kill her more subtly so as to have a better chance, but things develop differently from how they both intended? Assuming she didn’t kill Rhaegal as well. And I hear in the books that Cersei had wanted Daenerys’ brother Rhaegar; I’m show-only, but feel free to use that if you like.
Daenerys Targaryen/Brienne of Tarth (GOT TV)
Ever since reading Gwendoline Christie mention hoping they’d get together, I can’t stop thinking about them. I feel like Daenerys would respect an honorable woman doing her best to live up to the ideals of knighthood in the face of sexism and a world in which the institution can be corrupt. And I think Brienne would respect a queen enduring the hardship and odds Daenerys has faced, in her struggle to both lead and make the world a better place.
Daenerys Targaryen/Margaery Tyrell (GoT TV)
I keep wondering, what if Daenerys had been well-established enough earlier that the Tyrells might look to allying with her even before Cersei burned those bridges re:alliances with her family? It would be interesting: their methods for getting into power are different in that they’re physical violence versus manipulation, hard power versus soft, but each girl relies on making the people feel uplifted, like they would benefit from having her as queen. And we know with Daenerys there’s a real empathy and idealism mixed in with her seeking power—what kind of team might she and Margaery make?
Ellaria Sand/Daenerys Targaryen (GOT TV)
They’re ambitious, they’re determined, and they know what it’s like to start from a difficult place, though their lives have been quite different. Vengeance against a ruling family is difficult, but they’re up for it to take what’s theirs. In a world in which Ellaria doesn’t get captured, what happens once they take King’s Landing together?
Jaime Lannister/Daenerys Targaryen (GOT TV)
He killed her father, but her father was a danger to the kingdom she wants to be a good queen of, and she wouldn’t have had either the kingdom or a shot at ruling it without that. They both struggle with the reality of their positions as knight and queen, versus what they’d like to be in those roles: to be honorable, to save the vulnerable, and to have that recognized and work out. It’d be complicated, but that’s interesting to me.
Oberyn Martell/Ellaria Sand/Daenerys Targaryen (GoT)
Robb Stark/Daenerys Targaryen (GOT TV)
What if Daenerys had arrived sooner, while the Stark/Lannister war was still going? She’s formidable to both of them. There’s bad blood between all three houses now, and Robb isn’t going to team up with the one who killed his father, who he’s been fighting against, but Daenerys is seeking to rule the land he was just crowned king of...so how would a marriage alliance work out?
Yara Greyjoy/Daenerys Targaryen (GoT)
I really enjoyed Yara’s flirting and Daenerys not seeming to mind. And Yara fits with Daenerys’ history of love interests—Drogo leading their Dothraki, who are raiders—but she’s different, and they’re meeting in different circumstances. They also both know what it’s like to be the more worthy ruler in the family while dealing with the threat of a relative who isn’t. What if they had just gone ahead and attacked King’s Landing? What kind of relationship could happen in the fallout?
Oberyn Martell/Daenerys Targaryen (GoT)
Kinvara/Daenerys Targaryen (GoT TV)
What if Kinvara had come with Daenerys, just as Melisandre travels? Or it’s her Drogon goes to with his mother’s body?

Star Wars: Ahsoka - E. K. Johnston
