I really loved all the Mortis stuff and I think it would be fun to play with things like balance, ritual elements (like Anakin proving he’s who those Force Avatars want on that platform, or the special weapon that could kill them), and the resurrection of Ahsoka through the lens of marriage, or marriage through the lens of those things. All of that and the erotic potential of the Force. (For more on that, see this fanvid. I don’t mean to suggest you should use anything from it, I just like the general vibe of “hey, the Force is a thing I can feel you with.” and want to share it with everyone.)

I love the mirroring that goes on between these two in who they are and how they choose to live their lives, and I love the synergy they have, how quickly they get over Anakin’s initial shock at being assigned a student because he recognizes that they would fit. They have so many adventures; it would be fun to apply marriage.
What if marriage is, instead of something Jedi don’t do, a thing they practice amongst themselves? Which is another way to look at them being assigned to each other: an arranged marriage. Perhaps being master/student partners involves a sort of marriage, and they decide they want that to continue after Ahsoka is no longer his student—whether because she’s graduated or because she left—or Ahsoka leaves and the marriage is officially broken but it doesn’t feel that way.
Maybe they get married in an undercover mission but it turns out to be binding, or to induce a soulbond, so the marriage cannot just be dissolved, and then they realize they don’t want it dissolved. What if it’s something they need to do because the Force on Mortis, or to save/find the other through the Force, or it’s part of what Anakin does when he channels the Daughter’s life essence into Ahsoka to resurrect her? What if that binds them?
Or they go through time loops together, which gradually brings them to a different understanding of their relationship? Or they make choices that land them in a future in which they do get together, so they try to process what this means for the relationship and sort of put everything together backwards?
Maybe their experiences on Mortis lead to seeing worlds in which they are together, or even meeting their other selves. In the short or long term, how could that lead them to see their own relationship differently, and in what ways could it not? (For the “Current Marriage Interrupted by Spouse from Alternate Timeline”, I make an exception to my unrequested ships DNW: you don’t need to include Anakin’s canon marriage when showing the requested ship seeing their alternate selves married to each other, but if you wish to you may, providing that it’s not the primary ship in the story or the “real” romance in contrast to the requested ship.)
Worldbuilding surrounding their marriage: what marriage means to Ahsoka’s people and her connection to that as someone who is still Togruta but was raised in a different culture, and what it means to Anakin as someone who spent a critical part of his childhood a slave and then was raised in a different culture. Fluffy things around differing wedding traditions and knowledge are welcome!

I love the star-crossed nature of their story in Rebels, how Vader wants to see Ahsoka but hates the idea of her seeing him as Anakin, while Ahsoka hates to see him as Vader but wants to stay with him when she sees him as Anakin. It would be interesting to introduce marriage into that dynamic. Them being brought into that unexpectedly as a result of their coming together, because of their connection to the Force and to each other, sets off something at the Temple, or some other mystical nexus. Maybe their meeting again was destined in a way they hadn’t thought of.
Maybe one of them needs/wants to do a ritual because they need to find them/keep them alive until they’ve sorted out what to do about this person. Maybe marriage to keep someone under your power is an old Sith tradition, or it’s something practiced galaxy-wide and they’re bound to it, so all the conflict between them as they are now actually leads to them being stuck together in this. It could also be a way to keep the other around in a legitimized/protected way during wartime, after not seeing each other for a long time and finding they’re on opposite sides, because they want them alive and accessible until they decide what to do about them.
Or, maybe the Sith are in power and the Jedi are fading, but it’s ot a matter of officially killing them all for the public, so they need to marry as a way of proving Sith dominance over the Jedi/showing they can be protected or redeemed as members of society if they give up their ways, and for the sake of Ahsoka’s safety/well-being in society.
Given the importance of visions in Star Wars, what if they end up seeing a future in which they were together? What would they do in the face of that; how would it feel? Would it reawaken emotions, or lead to new ones? What if they changed the past; how would they handle redoing life with both the old memories and the new experience of marriage—how would that be both different and the same from their old partnership?
What if it’s just been so long, and now the war is over, they’re both alive, so they just decide to live out what’s left of their lives together, if Anakin survives Palpatine? Alternately, can you get married to a Force Ghost, or in the afterlife?

These all involve characters who have dreams, visions, and mystical portents as parts of their stories. So I thought these would be fun tags!
Anakin Skywalker (Star Wars)/Buffy Summers (Buffy the Vampire Slayer)
Two destined heroes, unconventional within their context and struggling to balance their duties with their personal desires, capable of deep love, and hellishly dangerous in battle. A slight tendency to brood and cut themselves off because they are the One and nobody else can do what they can do. Then, they both experience the depression of having to keep living when they thought their life was over, they were done, and it would have come as a relief to be dead. Fuse their universes, have one of them visit the other in a dream—they’re both psychic that way—or have some portal shenanigans with the Force/Hellmouth. Maybe one of them is stuck in a temple via cryogenics or a spell and the other finds them in the ruins. Or, they run into each other when Buffy’s in that trap that turns homeless Earth people into slave labor; maybe she ends up on Tatooine instead, or he and/or Shmi got taken there at some point from Tatooine, and they escape together. Then they bond! Maybe they’ve been dreaming of each other all this time without knowing, being a comfort to each other. Maybe when Buffy died, they connected on the astral plane and married in a cosmic fashion, and then she’s pulled back to life...
Anakin Skywalker (Star Wars)/Daenerys Targaryen (Game of Thrones)
These two are charged with energy all by themselves, and the thought of them with each other is delicious. Both of them have this intensity of feeling, as well as the whiff of prophecy about them. They both have a desire to remake the world around them for the better, and a ruthlessness in following that drive. With interesting differences: where Dany is willing to learn to rule and to navigate mercy while in an environment that encourages violence, Anakin is raised to value mercy but struggles to adhere to it, and he isn’t raised to think he can rule—he just decides it as part of his personal fuck everything breakdown. What would it be like, if they could meet? The potential vibe reminds me of the Daario scene where he kneels and delivers the heads of her enemies. At the same time, they started out as gentler souls, and they have love in their hearts. They could share an understanding, I think. They’d be a potent mix. Also, I like the appearance of flight in their stories: Anakin is the best flyer and it’s part of how he got out of slavery, where Daenerys is the first to fly dragons in many years, which provides her with both power and a means of escape. Plus they both love doing it. And I know this is more book Daenerys, and I haven’t read the books, but the line “if I look back, I am lost” has always been very striking; it seems like something that could apply to Anakin, who, as he states in The Clone Wars film, “[doesn’t] want to talk about my past...The desert is merciless.
It takes everything from you.”
Feel free to AU either of them into the other’s universe, or have them share one, or let the mystical shenanigans fly free. They dream of each other during bad times, they might or might not know they will meet.
Ben Solo | Kylo Ren (Star Wars ST)/Ahsoka Tano (Star Wars Animation)
One of the most intriguing get-togethers that hasn’t happened. In their own ways, they each represent Anakin’s legacy, and they have their own relationships to that and to him. Ahsoka is his path not taken, having faced her own capacity for darkness when she wanted vengeance and chose against it, and Kylo Ren believes he is continuing his work by choosing against his capacity for goodness; as they both turn away and leave him behind, they continue on their paths, one to remove herself from the galaxy at large until she is needed and the other to dominated it in an attempt to fulfill his own needs. Does Kylo Ren ever find out his grandfather had an apprentice? What if he met her on some pilgrimage to Malachor? Or, in a universe where Anakin survived and Ben Solo still became Kylo Ren, would Kylo Ren find them together, and perhaps come to a different choice? Or maybe he finds Ahsoka in a sleep-like trance in the ruins of Malachor, and waking her leads to her being able to ward off Snoke’s influence? Maybe she trains him instead of or in addition to Luke, or a repentant Ben finds her when he’s trying to put what’s left of his destruction into a new life. What if they dream of each other across time? Maybe marriage is a ritual that opens them up to a deeper understanding of the Force.
Rey (Star Wars Sequel Trilogy)/Ahsoka Tano (Star Wars Animation)
The concept of these two meeting is great! Ahsoka is touched by the light side, both in her choice to live in it and in how its very essence gave her back her life. Rey awoke to her power as the dark side rose. They both try to reach a dark-side user they see more in, and succeed, only to be betrayed by him, and they both face the hard choice of letting him go and coming in to their potential themselves, without any help. What if Ahsoka walked through another portal, when she knew it was time? Or perhaps she learned how to become a Force Ghost and that is the version Rey meets on a dream quest? Or maybe Ahsoka has become ageless, in a sleep-like trance under Malachor’s ruined Temple, until Rey goes there and wakes her up? What if they dream of each other across time? Maybe they’re meant to meet and marry and that’s part of Rey’s awakening to the Force.
Once again, I am thrilled, and thank you so much for this. I hope this will be a fun exchange for you!

Edited on June 13 2019: Added three more lines to the end of that first Anakin/Daenerys paragraph.
Edited on July 9 2019: It appears that during my last edit, I copy/pasted a letter from a completely different exchange instead of the expanded version of this one. I am so sorry if you looked at my letter in between now and then!
