Hello dear author!

I’m so glad you wanted to write for me! Thank you so much! I hope this letter helps create a good environment for your creativity.

Parallels (and contrasts) between characters and their journeys are a thing for me.

I like characters looking out for each other and rescuing each other, giving care and emotional support. Especially when women are the ones receiving care and support, getting their needs made a priority by their loved ones.

Canon divergence and role reversals are loved, though I also enjoy other AUs.

Here are some more things I enjoy: fusions, vignettes, character studies, plotty stuff, angst, fluff, smut, adventure, characters talking to each other, character focus in smut, enemies to lovers, friends/lovers to enemies to lovers/friends, pining, worldbuilding, quiet character moments, bittersweet endings, happy endings, open endings with hope/upbeat tones, romance, gen, gen with a strong dose of romance, quiet and subtle romance, the total opposite of quiet and subtle romance (passion, fervor--after all, my fandoms have a high melodrama quotient)

DNWs:

Character death (with an exception for Anakin/Vader, where either way works for me), mpreg, detailed gore, detailed description of bodily fluids and excretions, noncon, rape, incest, permanent breakups, a/b/o, genderbending unless it's for the male characters, body horror, explicit and/or permanently damaging torture, maiming, mutilating, bashing of characters or ships, unrequited love (except if it's only unrequited in a characters' head), unrequested ships (though mentions are okay)

Caveat: Referencing something in that list which happened in canon is all right. I’d just rather not it be a main feature in the story.

Black Magician Trilogy

Sonea is one of my favorite heroines. I love her being this sort of grounded character who tries to be sensible for the sake of surviving, but with this streak of needing to take action and take charge, sometimes impulsively. And, as is typical for me, I really came to enjoy her getting into romantic relationships with the antagonists in her story. I’d be happy with any backstory for either the original trilogy or the sequel trilogy, and to see either relationship.

Perhaps the first time she learned to bend or break the rules because she had to? A missing scene with Akkarin during the trips away from Kyralia and then back? An alternate universe where she and Regin somehow make a go of it much earlier? Or a future scene—I really like that Sonea got to have different kinds of relationships in this series. A cute mutual crush with Dorrien, something deeper and reciprocal with Akkarin that seems to have lasted long after his death, and an imbalanced one with Regin, where she’s just easing into something that could make her happy with a guy who adores her.

Star Wars: Ahsoka – E. K. Johnston

I only know Ahsoka as of a few years ago, and she already feels like she’ll be one of my forever girls. Give me her alone in the galaxy during that first year, surviving in the galaxy’s underbelly—perhaps drawing on how she learned to live after leaving the Jedi Order, before Order 66 made things even more desperate.

Given that Kaeden joins the Rebellion, does Ahsoka ever meet her again? I’m happy to have pining, meeting years later and not pursuing a relationship but still enjoying each others’ company, or an actual relationship! Maybe something where Ahsoka lets herself really get in touch with what she feels for Kaeden—I feel like she has kept that part at a distance, and even more so after Order 66.

I really liked how Ahsoka really liked having Selda around. That familiarity they experienced despite not really knowing each other, where they fell into their roles so easily as Ahsoka gathered intel. It’d be great to explore more about Togrutas and their culture, and what it’s like for them under the Empire! Or them working together in the future.

Show me how Ahsoka forms the spy network and becomes a leader for Bail’s nascent Rebellion! I’d love to see them appreciate each other as valuable members in this movement. They’re finding purpose in making the galaxy a better place, if in a different context than they were before. Perhaps Ahsoka sometimes reminds Bail of Anakin and it creates discomfort. Or Ahsoka’s reflecting when she goes on a mission to a place she’d visited before as a Jedi and agent of the Republic.

I love the way that Anakin is present in his absence during the book. Feel free to include him as something hanging over Ahsoka, whether she’s alone or with the other characters nominated. I like the idea of her being distant over the memories sometimes, while Kaeden tries to reach her, or comparing her work relationships with Selda and Bail to her partnership with Anakin.

I also love the idea of an au where he did die and, as in Return of the Jedi, came to the light in time to be a Force Ghost and literally haunt her. Or perhaps he lives and they’re on the run together. Or! I’ve always been into the idea of her meeting Vader much earlier than Rebels, when he was still fresh and raw in the role. I enjoy these two as both the platonic relationship we got and as a ship, so feel free to write me either. (Just not as one-sided on Ahsoka’s part, please.)

The Secret Country Series – Pamela Dean

I finally caught up to this series years after reading the first book! I loved Ruth and the slowly building mutual interest with Randolph as she learns how to live in her counterpart’s role. Give me more of her studies, and show me the relationship while she grows older! How is she faring without her parents? How does it feel to embrace this world while having given up the other? I also loved Ellen; the sensible and caring way she articulated why she would be staying in her home world broke my heart. She never really found a place in the Secret Country like the other children did. So she put her parents first. It’s not the same, but she makes me think of Susan Pevensie from the Narnia books. Maybe show her adjusting to life without the others, finding a place in the world she chose. Or perhaps she and Ruth keep up with each other.

Thank you again for writing me a gift!
