I love Vic and so feel for her attempts to believe she can claim a space in the world for herself, her fear that she can't and doesn't belong in the kind of life she wants to have, her despair and her struggle. I'd just love to have anything; a time when she babysat Haley, a good July Fourth memory, something from the time she and Craig and Willa were friends before they drifted apart, her growing relationship with Lou in between seasons, a moment when she tried to be there for Wayne before season two and it didn't go all bad. Maybe something of her and Wayne drawing together post-series, or talking with her mother, or having a moment of openness with Lou. Does she see Haley after? Or Millie, if Millie comes back and tries to see Wayne? Or a moment of her choosing to be there for Maggie after Maggie decides to explore more of the Creative worlds out there, despite not agreeing with her decision? Thinking back on her father and her relationship with/projection onto him? Or feeling haunted. Give me Vic struggling with her trauma, and/or having a moment that's not so bad, that gives her hope. What about being stuck in a time loops? Or if she sees an alternate universe version of herself--perhaps one that did go to school with the scholarship she earned, whether or not she kept the baby?
I dnw bleak/hopeless endings, but if it helps makes things any clearer for this fandom: an ending that seems bleak and hopeless for the characters because it's canon compliant for a bleak/hopeless time in their lives as depicted on the show, would not read as bleak or hopeless to me as long as it didn't make the canon ending impossible. For example, if you want to write about how Vic is feeling as she leaves Lou and Wayne at the beginning of season two, and she didn't end the story with any hope, I wouldn't consider it a violation of my dnw as long as it didn't alter the end of the season for her, or give her an ending set after the show's finale which negated part or all of it.

So these two are an interesting mirror to Buffy and Giles, and I wish the show could've done more with Maggie seeming to have an interest in and opinions on Buffy's future and the way Buffy seemed to admire her! Since Buffy enjoyed the class and was good enough in it to be asked to lead discussions, how about her coming around during office hours to see her professor as an interested student? Or more conversations after they each discover the other's role with regard to the supernatural in Sunnydale? Maybe instead of trying to kill Buffy, Maggie tries to increase her influence on her, or she decides to play more of a long game before seeing if she needs to kill her, and things go on like that. Or Buffy dreams of Maggie, like she did with Adam in "Restless."

Buffy has Cordelia as a reflection of the girl she might've been if she hadn't become the Slayer, but she also has Harmony, the girl who preferred to fit in with whatever Cordelia and the other popular kids thought instead of risking a choice that would leave her alienated, as Buffy ended up doing. Plus, she's a vampire! But one set in her ways. What if Harmony had wound up helping Buffy and friends and wanted to become part of the team? Or perhaps she was chipped and wants to be taken in somewhere, and she thinks Buffy wouldn't kill her if she's helpless. Plus she did die helping Buffy fight off the demons at their high school graduation, so. I think they could end up being fun and funny and sweet, for a Slayer/soulless vampire couple. Or hey, maybe Harmony doesn't die; Buffy comes to see her at the hospital in respect for her passing, and something starts there.

I love the mirror universe and how it's used to show connection and disconnection, who you could be, how relationships can be similar but different, or just not exist. And I love these two characters! Michael forced herself to pretend in order to make it, and found it a nightmare; Spock adjusted quite well for his own benefit, without exactly believing in the empire as long-term success. So, how would Michael meeting her estranged brother in another timeline, one in which she's the empress's daughter and he's trying to make it in a Terran world, go? Where would he be anyway, given that in the Terran empire humans are an oppressing force, his father is/was an important part of a resistance against them, and we know he'll still be in a command position on a Terran starship years later? How is he climbing the ranks, and would that bring him to the attention of Mirror Michael--and thus the other timeline's Michael once she arrived? It could be interesting if, while it's definitely not this Michael's universe, and it is his, he doesn't quite fit in it smoothly either, in a different way.

They both left the Jedi, disillusioned, and took very different paths. It’d be fun to give them a reason to talk to each other! If Ahsoka had been with Anakin in the rescue of the Chancellor, would she have stopped him? What if she had, and things turned out so that Dooku felt he had to run off with her as a hostage for safety? What if Ahsoka went into the past from Rebels and, trying to avoid meeting herself and anyone she was close to directly, fell into working with her old enemy by accident? Maybe he ends up working with her instead; older Ahsoka gives him a shock, being wiser and more powerful, and he ends up reconsidering his allegiance to his master? (And if you want, eventually her Force presence and the shenanigans do bring her to the attention of her former self and her old master.) Alternately, Dooku ends up going forward—perhaps in the World Between Worlds, Ahsoka looks on a scene with him and he can feel her gaze, so he investigates and she winds up pulling him through. They then find themselves adrift in a new galaxy, working with the last Jedi against the Empire they were all used to build, and more directly against an enemy Ahsoka once knew. I also like the idea of them being stuck in time loops, but as Force-sensitives being able to feel impressions of all the previous loops, which affects their dynamics and feelings for each other throughout time.
Barriss Offee/Anakin Skywalker/Ahsoka Tano (SWTCW)
I love the tensions here, and how when Ahsoka’s faith was shaken with even Anakin not living up to her expectations—in not being the one to break her out—she was still willing to risk talking to Barriss, and it hurt him to admit she wouldn’t talk to him; how Barriss knew Ahsoka would think Anakin had been the one to do it and would trust him only to feel disappointed; how when Anakin brings Barriss in and he’s happy, but Ahsoka is clearly distraught, and how all their hearts are broken by the end. Out of all of them, Barriss was the one to first express her dissatisfaction with the Jedi in a decisive and decidedly dramatic manner. She was also the first to choose to fall to the Dark Side in reaction to that, betraying Ahsoka and changing her world forever, just as Anakin would later do on a larger scale; meanwhile Ahsoka herself reacted to her dissatisfaction by staying with the Light Side. I’d love to see the fallout of the season five finale; perhaps Ahsoka tries to talk to Barriss before she goes and Anakin reacts, or he talks to Barriss himself, or Barriss somehow gets free and they all end up having a fraught reunion. Or as above, Anakin finds out the other two will encounter each other and tries to help, only to have things get more complicated than he expected.

Much as the above, I love the potential for tension here, especially given their dynamic in the season five finale episodes. Ahsoka warily depending on Ventress, Anakin being very unhappy as he told Asajj she was the only one Ahsoka had talked to and depending on her nevertheless, Asajj identifying with Ahsoka to Anakin’s shock. It’d be really fun to see this followed through as part of the arc’s impact, with Ahsoka perhaps meeting up with Ventress again and them running into Anakin in Coruscant’s underworld, or as part of a mission he ends up involved in without their knowledge—or maybe he finds out they’re working together and in his determination to meddle, gets more than he bargained for.

Dooku/Ahsoka Tano (SWTCW)
They both left the Jedi, disillusioned, and took very different paths. It’d be fun to give them a reason to talk to each other! If Ahsoka had been with Anakin in the rescue of the Chancellor, would she have stopped him? What if she had, and things turned out so that Dooku felt he had to run off with her as a hostage for safety? What if Ahsoka went into the past from Rebels and, trying to avoid meeting herself and anyone she was close to directly, fell into working with her old enemy by accident? Maybe he ends up working with her instead; older Ahsoka gives him a shock, being wiser and more powerful, and he ends up reconsidering his allegiance to his master? (And if you want, eventually her Force presence and the shenanigans do bring her to the attention of her former self and her old master.) Alternately, Dooku ends up going forward—perhaps in the World Between Worlds, Ahsoka looks on a scene with him and he can feel her gaze, so he investigates and she winds up pulling him through. They then find themselves adrift in a new galaxy, working with the last Jedi against the Empire they were all used to build, and more directly against an enemy Ahsoka once knew. I also like the idea of them being stuck in time loops, but as Force-sensitives being able to feel impressions of all the previous loops, which affects their dynamics and feelings for each other throughout time.
Barriss Offee/Anakin Skywalker/Ahsoka Tano (SWTCW)
I love the tensions here, and how when Ahsoka’s faith was shaken with even Anakin not living up to her expectations—in not being the one to break her out—she was still willing to risk talking to Barriss, and it hurt him to admit she wouldn’t talk to him; how Barriss knew Ahsoka would think Anakin had been the one to do it and would trust him only to feel disappointed; how when Anakin brings Barriss in and he’s happy, but Ahsoka is clearly distraught, and how all their hearts are broken by the end. Out of all of them, Barriss was the one to first express her dissatisfaction with the Jedi in a decisive and decidedly dramatic manner. She was also the first to choose to fall to the Dark Side in reaction to that, betraying Ahsoka and changing her world forever, just as Anakin would later do on a larger scale; meanwhile Ahsoka herself reacted to her dissatisfaction by staying with the Light Side. I’d love to see the fallout of the season five finale; perhaps Ahsoka tries to talk to Barriss before she goes and Anakin reacts, or he talks to Barriss himself, or Barriss somehow gets free and they all end up having a fraught reunion. Or as above, Anakin finds out the other two will encounter each other and tries to help, only to have things get more complicated than he expected.
Anakin Skywalker/Ahsoka Tano/Asajj Ventress (SWTCW)
Much as the above, I love the potential for tension here, especially given their dynamic in the season five finale episodes. Ahsoka warily depending on Ventress, Anakin being very unhappy as he told Asajj she was the only one Ahsoka had talked to and depending on her nevertheless, Asajj identifying with Ahsoka to Anakin’s shock. It’d be really fun to see this followed through as part of the arc’s impact, with Ahsoka perhaps meeting up with Ventress again and them running into Anakin in Coruscant’s underworld, or as part of a mission he ends up involved in without their knowledge—or maybe he finds out they’re working together and in his determination to meddle, gets more than he bargained for.
