Well, somebody hat to follow them and spy on the Red Whirlwind after that chase scene. People should really stop making it obvious in public that they know a wanted person.
I find it funny to see that Romeo just growls. Romeo smash!
What does Duke Montague want, a slave population?
Juliet's name is slightly different. It's Juliet Fiammata Asto Capulet instead of Erss like in my subs or Ars which I've seen around. She spent three days unconscious all over being revealed as a Capulet? And fevered, apparently. Or she hit her head. She has a cloth on her forehead.
It's still wrong to me that Romeo can't think of a way to oppose his father other than yelling and growling (not an improvement over just saying this in the anime either). I wouldn't be competent at what he's trying to do either, but I just think that if he was raised in a court, with a father who tells him he ought to be studying politics, he should know a little better. Maybe he was somehow successfully ignoring everything, and now he knows stuff at the city has gone so bad, he's completely inept and thinks he can just get his way if he says what he wants. At least all of his defiance so far has been related to a developing social conscience, not missing dates with Hermione like in the anime. Speaking of, she hasn't appeared except for her introduction in the first act, and I don't recall her having that continuing arc she had in the anime. So she shouldn't need to appear much later to meet Juliet right in the middle of evacuating the city. I remember that completely random and not really serving anyone's character.
Why is Juliet being called a mercenary? The Duke calls her one on page 82 and it's on the back of the book. No one's paying her. I could see the Duke wanting to have some smear campaign saying she's really being paid to stir trouble and is no hero of the people, and that could have been an awesome plot that might go in several directions, but it doesn't happen and it's on the back of the book. So it's probably a translation error.
And Curio goes out to help the Red Whirlwind without covering his face (which is memorable if he lost an eye the same way as in the anime). I can't remember whether he allowed himself to be seen in the anime pilot. There's a possible subtle characterization difference here. In the anime, he calls what she's doing a game. In here, he tells her off a bit in the first act but helps her and even scolds her for not telling him she was about to go out.
Here, they leave the doctor on the roof with the guards. Also, doctor, way to reveal the secret identity. Why call out the 'real name of the person who's a wanted criminal?
At least the revelation of Juliet's dual identities to Romeo makes more sense. She isn't choosing to remove her boy clothes when Romeo could and did come back at any time. She also doesn't choose to announce she's the Red Whirlwind; he drags her nearly drowned body over to shelter and undresses her. For her health.
